Should Justin Bieber Be Arrested for Speeding?

Should the Biebs be behind bars? One Los Angeles politician thinks so. Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine says Justin Bieber should be arrested for speeding on an L.A. freeway last Friday. “As I watched, I was anticipating a crash,” Zine told ABC News of Bieber's driving. “It was chaos. Total willful disregard for people on the roadway.”

Zine says the teen heartthrob reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic. However, the Biebs may have a good excuse: He says he was being chased by aggressive paparazzi, and he even filed a complaint against one photographer, TMZ reported. Zine doesn't appear to see Bieber as the victim here. He called 911, and Bieber received a ticket for driving more than 65 miles per hour. Should cops throw Bieber in the slammer? Or was he just avoiding a Princess Diana-like fate?

He should go to jail. He was endangering others on the freeway. Paparazzi or not I don't care.

Aggressive paparazzi? What are they gonna do? Strip him downwind get proof that he actually is a girl? I say he should be in jail. Driving is a privalege and he's abusing it and putting other drivers on the road in danger.

Not at over 100mph that's reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon

How did I know someone was going to try to argue with me on this? haha.
Well, that's just my opinion. I used to live in L.A. and I've seen people do some crazy things on the road. Being on the road with someone driving at 100mph isn't all that rare. Not that it's right by any means, but anyone else probably would've just gotten a ticket too.

NO ONE is above the law. And he wasn't just speeding. That was reckless endangerment.
Both he and his paparazzi should be arrested and thrown in the drunk tank together.

I speed all the time. I am sure everyone does. I guarantee you the majority of the 547 "yes" votes are hypocrites. They have either been caught speeding and are bitter about it, or they think some arbitrary speed, say 100 mph, is somehow more reckless than the speed they go when speeding, say 89 mph.

I have never been pulled over. Never been in a wreck. People are such pussies. Especially that Zine guy. What kind of self-loathing brown-nosing goodie-two-shoes piece of scum calls the cops? Seriously?

Contrary to the narrative, speeding is not dangerous in and of itself. A bad driver will get in a wreck whether he is speeding or not, and a good driver won't whether he is speeding or not. Speeding DOES affect the SEVERITY of the crash, but hardly the likelihood of one.

I can't stand Beiber, but I am with him on this one.

i believe he should at least be suspended of his license because even if you are being chased by paparazzi there is no need to pass the speed limit going at 100+ m/hr, a running start is all you need to get away from the paparazzi people

My yes vote is provisional because I base it on third person accounts of what happened. If he was traveling at 100 miles per hour down the 101 FWY then yes, he should be arrested for endangering the lives of others. Fleeing paparazzi would not be a sufficient excuse form putting the lives of others in danger. Of course any paparazzi involved should be arrested as well.

No.Even though it would be funny If he got arrested, it would still be unfair. The guy was just trying to escape from paparazzi. They're the ones who should be arrested for invading other people's personal lives. If I was famous, I'd probably get arrested for murdering one of them.

"The guy was just trying to escape from the paparazzi. They're the ones who should be arrested for invading people's personal lives." Really? Don't be so naive. It's part of the fame game, and every person that becomes famous knows all that that entails. Evading someone trying to take your picture is absolutely no excuse, FOR ANYONE, to exceed miles of 100 mph. That's just stupid, and taking other people's lives into your hands, assuming that your speed won't cause a wreck. I don't care what the person above me a few comments said. Speeding that badly WILL cause a wreck. Speeding over a precariously placed rock will send you careening into a tree. And while I don't believe he should be in jail, no one is above the law, and he should definitely be subject to more sever punishment than a simple ticket, especially when he was over speeding by 40 mph.

100+ is unacceptable for a snotty nose kid who is just feeling his celebrity "privilege". About 500 hours community service may slow him down and show him what life is like!

Is he the new Lindsey? He was endangering himself and others on the road by his speed and his weaving in and out of traffic. This was not the first time he decided to disobey the posted speed nor was Zine the only one who made the call on him.
