Bad news, "How I Met Your Mother" fans: This season may be the last. Monday's premiere "is the first episode of the final season of 'How I Met Your Mother,'" co-creator Craig Thomas told reporters on Tuesday, according to TVLine. "We’re writing this season like it’s the end," he added.

That said, there "might" be a ninth season in the future, if negotiations between the studio, network and actors pan out. "Eight seasons is great. That being said, do we have a ninth season in us? Absolutely," co-creator Carter Bays chimed in. Nevertheless, Thomas called the prospect of wrapping up all the loose ends "exciting." "We get to answer everything," he said.     Naw.. they could make it a man show with a bevy of hotties coming in and out every episode....it dosen't have to make much sense ...just have a sexy ladies in it and us guys will be fans....remember Married with Children? Alot of hot girls got their start there in one episode spots....

    i dont know actually, i never watched it. i hate sitcoms. but if people are having conflicts noneed to try and drag it along. just causes a bad work enviornment.

    At least one more season! I was just wondering the other day when it will be cancelled, because it is about due time for it. However, I think they do have one more season left in them to tie up loose ends and leave with a bang at the end.

    Never watched it, never cared to. I have better things to do with my time than watching banal comedy actors performing idiotic scripts. Year after year people waste their lives on this crap. Viewers of this crap fry their own brains thinking that it's real life they are seeing on televsion. It's as much of a waste of time as the yogurt they suck down while they watch it.

    The show was really funny the first season, then it seems like the writing went south. Most of the shows since then have really gotten kind of corny and have a weak story line.
