Bad news, "How I Met Your Mother" fans: This season may be the last. Monday's premiere "is the first episode of the final season of 'How I Met Your Mother,'" co-creator Craig Thomas told reporters on Tuesday, according to TVLine. "We’re writing this season like it’s the end," he added.

That said, there "might" be a ninth season in the future, if negotiations between the studio, network and actors pan out. "Eight seasons is great. That being said, do we have a ninth season in us? Absolutely," co-creator Carter Bays chimed in. Nevertheless, Thomas called the prospect of wrapping up all the loose ends "exciting." "We get to answer everything," he said.     No way, they wish to cut How I met your Mother, How about cutting the Kartrashions, or jerey shores or another stupid real life tv show. but please for the love of god, Dont take HIMYM off. lol <- being extreme lol... na HIMYM is a good show.

    I'm so happy that Jersey Shore is ending. I had to endure watching it with my sister-in-law for a while. So I know a lot about it, and how stupid it is, but I would not have watched the show of my own accord, and I'm ecstatic that it got cancelled.

    he is a bloody good actor, without him in it would change the dymamics of the show, and it wouldnt be as good.. like when they replaced Charlie Sheen with Ashton K up until then we(my family) watched it religiously.

    If only gay people could play gay people and straight people could act straight people, then that wouldn't really be acting.

    It's like saying, only a junkie can act a junkie, or only a Christian can act a Christian.

    So the entire industry is a sham. There are many heterosexual actors who fit the role that Harris plays. And really, he is not a good actor.

    I still don't see your point.

    There are probably many junkies that fit the role of a junkie too, doesn't mean they have to hire one. And Barney is one of tvs current most loved and idolized characters, people like him and the way he portrays the character. I'm not into the show myself, but he obviously hasn't disappointed the majority.

    I suspect you just don't like the fact that he is gay. That a gay man has gotten a large number of straight male fans.

    I just don't get why you think they should find a heterosexual actor to play a straight character anymore than you think they should find a junkie to play a junkie or a blonde to play a blonde?

    it has been going on a while but it is an awesome show I'd hate to see it go but I guess eventually he has to get to the point. I mean I didn't expect that 70's show to last but I sure wish we could have had at least 1 more season!

    No I'll watch repeats. I often do with many of my favorite shows since the new ones are either on after I go to sleep or there are several on at same time. Like South park I'll watch that all the time repeat or not especialy my favorite episode TMI.

    i love this show, but even though i have to admit it is getting worse and worse by every season, idk if only this season is enough to answer everything without feeling rushed. last season was ok until the ending. that ending screwed everything up

    I'm so conflicted. I LOVE How i met your mothers. Old and new seasons! all equally hilarious. I'm pretty sure I've seen every single episode. That being said, with the story of the show, i think it's time for an end. Because now we know that Robin and Barney are getting married and Ted told us that he meets the mother formally at the wedding. so it could just end with that. So as a fan i say "No!! Please go on forever!" But in regards of the story line, i say end it this season
