Should 'Family Guy' Bring Brian Back?

On Sunday night's episode of "Family Guy," a shocking death occurred in the series that left many fans of the show angry and sad. The beloved family dog, Brian, had been killed.

The series had Brian hit by a car, leaving many fans to take to Twitter and start the hash tag #BringBrianBack. Brian was a beloved character on the series. His sarcasm, and rapport with Stewie matched no other character's. Did "Family Guy" make a huge mistake, or was it a good move for the series?

In an interview with E! Online, "Family Guy" executive producer Steve Callaghan explained the decision. "It seemed more in the realm of a reality that a dog would get hit by a car. As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet."

In an even weirder move, to help Stewie recover from the death of Brian, his family adopted another dog, Vinny. Vinny's voice is provided by Tony Sirico, who some might know as Paulie Walnuts on "The Sopranos."

"Vinny is a good match for Stewie because he doesn't let Stewie get away with any crap," Callaghan says. "He’ll call Stewie out on his b.s. freely."

What do you think Sodaheads? Should "Family Guy" bring back Brian to appease fans, or is it better to have Vinny on the series? Was Brian your favorite character, or are you not too bothered to see him go?

I overall like American Dad, but I dislike the alien. I overall dislike Family Guy, but I like the dog. Clearly both characters were misplaced. Move the dog to American Dad and move the alien to Family Guy. Problem solved. You are welcome.

Well if you don't like the show then there is no point in answering at all....because you don't know nor care for the show anyway.... if that came off a bit rude, I apologize but it's just how I see it.
  • Jennapsyde 2013/12/04 05:41:33

I have a feeling it's just gonna happen somehow. Not even saying it should. That whole episode feels set up for something big later.

I applaud the testicular fortitude it took to kill off a main character (THE main character IMO) in their show. May be interesting to see where they go with it from here.

I haven't watched TV shows for many years though, so it makes little difference to me either way.
  • wilsonmja 2013/12/03 08:26:46
That was a bad thing to kill Brian. I've seen every episode of Family Guy. I'm a huge fan, but I do not like this move. I do not like it at all.

I don't even watch Family Guy anymore but I really have to applaud the amount of balls it took to kill off a main character like this.

they shouldn't have killed him in the first place.
  • Scott 2013/12/02 15:49:18
Once you make a decision like that, stick with it. The dead should stay dead, it isn't right to bring them back.
  • Alexis82 2013/12/01 19:01:02
    Damn. It's just a cartoon.

Brian & Stewie are the show. Not bringing him back will kill the show.
  • TammyJ1972 Dave 007 2013/12/03 06:57:09
Not necessarily. Look at "Two and a Half Men"...they killed off Charlie (Charlie Sheen), in a stupid way IMO I might add, and put in Walden (Ashton Kutcher) and the show still raves.

Animation should make the animation show what is real from time to time. Balls seen with a sheath is not evil. Having them does not make the one who has them dumb or inept either. It should be a sheath that is under emphasized being narrow when penis is not erect. A human type would not have a sheath. A red one would. Being careful to not over do it is important being in proportions to the body so the part looks like they belong on Brian. I emphasis this: the parts seen does not mean sex all of the time. Brian was the sensitive one too. He was the one who felt rejection from time to time. I feel for him.
