Should Ellen be allowed to place her adopted dog with her choice of owner contrary to the "Mutts and Moms" policies?

Ellen DeGeneres recently adopted a dog from "Mutts and Moms" named Iggy. After paying her dues and caring for her dogs, she simply could not get Iggy and her cats to get along, so her hairdresser's family offered to take the pup off of her hands.

Ellen sent Iggy to a new, loving home where the two girls living there fell in love with the dog.

When "Mutts and Moms" called to check up on Iggy, Ellen reported that he was in a loving home. The very next day, a representative showed up to Iggy's new home with a police escort to take the dog away, due to a contract violation with Ellen and the organization.

Ellen admits to not having been aware of the clause that she signed which states that if she was unable to provide a home for Iggy, that he must be returned to the organization.

Should the dog be returned, or should policy be enforced and Iggy be retained at the organization until a new home is found for him?

wrong process yes wrong act no. That happens all the time and these orgs dont take away the animal. She made a huge investment in the dog. If they were really concern they should have simply requested an interview with the new family. pompus asses no concern for the dog or the people.

i believe she should have let them know first but they shouldn't have had a problem with it because as long as the dog is happy and not in a kennel who really cares but she really should have had consent first.

I think that the dog should be returned to the adoption center but that Iggy's new family should be considered for adoption by the organization.

That's just gay seriously. The dog was payed for and what not it was in a good home it no longer belongs to muts and moms or whatever so they have no say in it.

No because she signed an agreement with the agency that gave her the dog. She has to agree with them and it was her fault for not reading the fine print. OBVIOUSLY.

She broke the rules of the adoption. That dog should be put to sleep.

Just kidding! I love dogs. They should just do whatever's best for the dog.

the rule said that if she can't provide a good home then the pup gets returned....
well she DID provide a good home for the dog. It wasn't hers but it was still a good home for the dog and she provided it.

it's all about the wording of the phrase. I'm not usually one to consider using loopholes unless the rule is ridiculous.
well this is one of those ridiculous rules and the phrasing is the loophole.

    Ellen: one
    Mutt's and Moms: zero

There are so many unwanted animals out there that they should of been happy iggy went to a loving home. I went to a friend of a friends house about 6 years ago and saw one of her 5 dogs this one little dog would grab a bite of food then run under the table to eat. the other dogs would not let him eat. I picked up the dog and walked out of the house. I told them go call a cop but then I would have all there dogs. My family is very happy with our dog buddy

In this case, the dog had an alleged loving home. It seems counter-productive to snatch the dog back into the hands of the shelter when other animals there probably already need attention and homes. This policy seems to have a few flaws which leaves it rigid against common sense and compassion.

The agency should have known Ellen would have made sure the dog would have been placed into a good home.........I guess they wanted the extra publicity..........I guess my no should have been yes , I was answering the "should the dog be returned to the agency question"........

She still found a good home for the dog and does it say it has to be her home, what if it would have been a gift. I think they are being this way for publisity

If the clause states she must provide a good home, I think she did by giving the dog to a family that really wanted it. Very cold and heartless of Mutts for Moms to take it away. A better move would have been to visit the home and evaluate if it was a good place for the dog.

The dog should be returned. How stupid to take the dog away from a loving family without giving them even the smallest chance to show they could care for the dog. I can see returning the dog to keep it OUT of a shelter/pound, but to have to return the dog because you found it a 'better home' is stupid. Lets get together to out people like this OUT OF BIZ!!

As long as a person is willing and able to care for a pet it should not matter where it comes from. I look in my local paper and can get a free pet anytime. I recently got a Bermese Mountain Dog 6 months old with shots and spayed for free. I would rather spend the money on toys and food for the pet. They should have just interviewed the new family and I'm sure that everything would be ok. The shelter already got their money for the dog, what did they want to do make more money from a heartbroken family. These shelter should be thrilled that any animal gets a home instead of death. What is wrong with this picture??????

The new home should be check out and if it is a good home for the dog then he should definatley stay. The main objective is to find these animals a good loving home. I think that mission was accomplished.

ellen degeneres is an amazing entertainer, but mutts and mom have experienced in the field that their in , therefore if the animal organization feel that the adopted puppy should have been returned back to them then, they are the experts they know was best for the puppy.

Ellen, We at Magnolia Run Equine Retirement feel what they did is wrong as long as the puppy was in a good hpome that is what matters, you would not have given the puppy to just anyone. We mated our Boston Terrier and have pick of the litter a beautiful female Boston, she is now 8 weeks old, her name is "Prada" we would like to offer her to you, we know she would just love being loved by two little girls................... If interested please contact us at 518-284-2751 ask for Yvonne or Jeanne

$$$$$$$$$$ is their business that is all they do not care for the animals. If they did they would have take time to see where iggy was and how were the clean the place and the girls were getting along the dog and if the dog was happy. Investigate those 2 women. Ellen llove animals and wouldn't do any to harm them

The organization should have went to the home to make sure Iggy was being taken care of and loved! If they found a loving home then Iggy should have been allowed to stay! So I think that Iggy should be returned! There are to many abused animals out there to take one away from a good home!

I wonder if it wasn't Ellen, if these people would be making a big deal.
It sounds like Ellen made sure the puppy was given a good home. What about these little girls, that have fallen in love with this puppy?

Why couldn't the mutts and moms, see how the puppy is wiht it's new home and go from there, if there so concerned about the puppy being mistreated.

Ellen, as far as I am concerned, you are a loving & caring person and would never intentially harm anything. I know you are a celebrity and not above the law, but you have nothing but kindness in your heart - just like your Mom. You had every right to give that dog to those you trust to love it.

The real issue is not who the dog is placed with, but the quality of care that is provided for the dog. If the dog is loved and cared for, then I don't understand the problem here. I was under the impression that "Mutts and Moms" was in the business of preventing animal cruelty, not promoting discrimination.

hi,yes!!! very much so she did adopt the dog and things sisn't work out with her other animals, but beside the point !!. it's not like she was giveing the dog to someone that would abuse it!!. she was giveing it to a family with kids. AND THE DOG WAS AJUSTING VERY WELL WITH THE OTHER FAMILY .I MY SELF DO FOSTERING . AND WHAT ELLEN DID WAS VERY NICE AND SWEET FOR THE FAMILY AND THE DOG TOO!. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE MUTTS AND MOMS DON'T REALLY CARE WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THERE ANIMALS!!. THEY WHERE WRONG TO DO WHAT THAY DID!!!. AND ELLEN WAS IN THE RIGHT !!!.

I think there are so many animals that need to go to loving homes. This dog had been put into a loving home with Ellen's hairdresser and I see no logical reason for the rescue organization to intervene. Wouldn't their efforts be better spent on finding homes for other dogs that are waiting?

Ellen is a loving, caring woman....and because of some sick people out there, who like to judge and pass judgement on other people's lives, she felt the dog was not save and therefore did a loving thing and gave the dog to a good, loving home. How dare poeple just go in and take that dog away from it's loving home and that poor child is the victime. Ellen never would have done such a thing that would cause such hurt and pain. For she is a loving, giving person. I will always love Ellen and I wish her and all her loved ones, joy, peace and good health always. Blessings from Terri Spellman
