Should Drake Have a Monopoly on the YOLO Logo?

You might be familiar with the YOLO acronym ("You Only Live Once"), thanks to Drake. The actor-turned-rapper popularized the term through his lyrics for the 2004 song "The Motto": "Now she want a photo, you already know though/ You only live once: that's the motto n***a, YOLO."

Although he made "YOLO" a popular expression, Drake didn't come up with it himself and it's unknown if he trademarked it or not. According to the Daily Mail UK, the acronym was coined by Adam Mesh -- a contestant on the third season of NBC's "Average Joe" reality show.

Despite this fact, Drake feels as if he owns the right to the YOLO logo, and called out both Macy's and Walgreens on Instagram for selling items with YOLO on them. In one comment he wrote, "Walgreens...you gotta either chill or cut the cheque." What do you think? Should Drake get royalties every time YOLO is used? Or is he the one that needs to chill?

The 26-year-old recording artist, who reportedly has a net worth of $25 million, posted two images online depicting clothing emblazoned with the acronym YOLO and called on Walgreen's and Macy's to cut him a check.
