The Los Angeles Police Department is demanding that "Dog Wars," a video game app for Android smart phones developed by Kage Games, be pulled from the market because of its "cruel" and "sickening" content.

"It's sickening, absolutely sickening," Weber said. "They should take it down immediately. These animals are defenseless. It's absolutely the wrong message to send to our children."

The game is basically a dogfighting simulator that allows players to train their dogs and pit them against each other. The game also features weapons that can be used against police and steroid use, the Los Angeles Times reports.

It's just a video game. It's no more cruel or disturbing than horror movies, certain types of music or even some paintings. The LAPD needs to get off their power trip and friggin let it go.

On one hand I think it's just an app these are virtual dogs --sure dogfighting is wrong but so is beating up hookers, and I wouldn't suggest pulling GTA. However what if there was an app where virtual toddlers have sex? I guess some things are wrong in any dimension wheras others survive the cross over.

We wouldn't have a child porn app., if it's a disgusting immoral subject, it shouldn't be an app. It's hard enough as it is to convince certain people that fighting animals is cruel with out having an app for that.

Yeah, poor defenseless bits and bytes. Who will protect these strings of data from such an abuse?!

Besides who said the game is aimed at kids? It has a "HIGH MATURITY" rating. That's like giving your kid an AO rating game and complaining it has sex.

That's the libertarian in me, people should be able to purchase and buy this, BUT doing it for real should remain illegal and be prosecuted to the FULL extent of the law.

It is pretty cruel and studies show that video games do affect people $aking them more violent, violent video games and I think its true I seen the effects on people. This is teaching kids that making dogs fight is right and giving them a bad example

No, because it could be worse, and there are a lot of video games as horrible and sickening as it. I hate all that "games", but they are legal and who could trace the line between what is too much nasty or not? who´s going to tell me what can I see and what can´t? Because that would be censure, most dangerous than any bloody game.

I think it is disgusting and it does showcase a crime, but then again so do most videogames. If you were to pull this game, you may as well pull any videogame where you kill people, and even the ones that violate traffic laws, for why would this one game make people commit the crime while others dont?
As sickening as it is, it shouldnt be pulled for violating the law, but its creators should discover this thing so many people love to throw away called a conscience and pull the game themselves.

This is just sick and horrible.By making an app for something like dogfighting, we are, in a sense, saying this is not a big issue. But look people, IT IS. his is why pit bulls have a bad reputation and why you cannot own a pitbull here in Denver. This is animal abuse. They made a game on animal abuse? I don't think so.

Yes, this game should be pulled. Why would you even need to ask that? Any game that promotes violence against the innocent and those who cannot speak for themselves, whether it's dog fighting or child molestation, should never even be created in the first place. The creators of this game should be jailed for inciting violence & animal cruelty.
