Derrick Rose has stepped up during this season to become a leader on the Chicago Bulls team. In his rookie year, Derrick Rose averaged about 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. Rose made a strong case for Rookie of the Year honors in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics by tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 36 points in a playoff debut. Derrick Rose also dished out 11 assists in that game, helping the Bulls beat the Celtics in overtime 105-103.

To be honest with you, I gave up watching the NBA a number of years ago when the players became so thuggish. I loved it when I was younger. It sounds like Mr. Rose has the stats to be ROTY, but I just couldn't really say.
