Should Celebrity Kids Be Off Limits?

It's one thing for the paparazzi to pursue a celebrity to the ends of the earth, but when they start chasing down celebrity spawn, things get real. Halle Berry has had enough of it. Photographers have been trying to nab pictures of Berry's 4-year-old daughter Nahla since she was born, and she's so frustrated with it that she's trying to change the law.

She told Access Hollywood, "We are going to figure out what we can do on our local level in Los Angeles to sort of change some laws because it is becoming child exploitation ... Nahla was just in a magazine and they said, what does she -- and I think Gwen Stefani's kid -- have in common? They were both nose pickers. And I thought, 'You know we are stooping to a new low when we prop up our children and exploit them like this.'" Do you agree with Halle Berry on this issue? Should celebrity kids be off limits to paparazzi?

they should wait till their around an appropriate age. being followed by the papparazzi is inevitable, so it's best that they learn how to deal with it so they don't get scared or something and can be used to it

Just because their parents made a choice to live life in the spotlight, doesn't mean the kids did. The paparazzi needs to back off and let these kids grow up without idiots in their faces.

Absolutely 100%. Actually, if they fined the tabloids a million dollars per picture that includes a celebrity child (without the celebrities expressed written consent, validated)...I would bet they might get the message. If no one wants to buy the photo's, the demand disappears.

Celebrities made a choice about their career choice and had to take three good with the bad. The children were just born to them. Like a politician's family, children of celebrities should be off limits.

But then again "to sort of change some laws" is somewhat concerning to me.

If it's in public, there is no expectation of privacy; thus, pictures taken in public are perfectly legal, with no consent needed from people in the photograph, regardless of age.

The a-hole tabloid photographers should have more tact and respect, but leave the laws alone. There are ample laws covering harassment.

Not when children are involved: it's inappropriate/unacceptable and falls well within the ramifications of stalking. wrong
  • jiggy MrsBluE... 2012/05/24 18:53:29

You might want to think that, but the law is clear. It's not illegal to take a photograph of someone in public. There is no legal or reasonable expectation of privacy in a public setting regardless of age.

But thanks for letting everyone know you gave a wrong answer with that picture.

YES, ITS BAD ENOUGH THEY CANT LEAVE CELEBS ALONE, WHATS SO EXCITING ABOUT DOING NORMAL THINGS THAT A PARENT NEEDS TO DO, SCHOOL, SHOPPING, LIKE YOU AND ME. THERE ARE MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHOTO-OPS OF CELEBS, LEAVE THEM ALONE, THOSE WHO STALK THESE CELEBS MUST LEAD BORING LIVES. CELEBS NOWADAYS ARENT SPECIAL ANYWAY, WHO CARES. BUT, IF I WAS A CELEB AND HAD THE PAPARAZZI CHASING MY KID, THERE'S JUST ONE THING TO DO, KICK EM IN THE CROTCH OR KICK IN THE PEACH. ATTACK THEM LIKE THEY ATTACK YOU. CARRY A BAT WITH YOU. JUST IN GENERAL, PEOPLE SHOULDNT STALK OTHER PEOPLE, THAT'S WHAT IT BOILS DOWN TO. IF THE PUBLIC/PAPPARAZZI/PEOPLE WOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION TO CHILD ABUSE/ABDUCTION, CHILDREN WITH CANCER/MISSING/EXPLOITED CHILDREN AND TEENS. IT WOULD BE MORE PRODUCTIVE. DO SOMETHING HELPFUL, NOT HURTFUL. WAKE UP PEOPLE. SHAME SHAME ON YOU PAPARAZZI, YOU ARE NAUSEATING ................................ I COULD SEND YOU A BIG LEWGIE OVER THE INTERNET I WOULD...........................

Hell, celebrities on the whole should be off limits unless they're at an event. If your average, every day person was being followed around by people constantly snapping photos of them; using telephoto lenses and advanced photography to peer into their windows and trying to "catch" something or chasing after them in a van, it'd be stalking and grounds to get a restraining order. I realize there are some low-brow "celebrities" that court the paparazzi, but just because someone's famous doesn't mean they, or their children, don't have the same right to privacy as the rest of us.

But it is down to the parents at the end of the day. If they choose to thrust their child into the spotlight then fair doos but even then following the child to their school or whatever is crossing the line.

Taking pictures of these children are fine when when they are taken in a *public area* and from a *reasonable distance*, for example "walking inside an airpot".

    However....

......stalking school yards/homes, chasing or other similar antics common with Paparazzi, is not appropriate.

Kids should be off-limits until they're sixteen or something.

And even then, I'd vote for it being eighteen, even.

Seriously. Just because the celebrity has to be plagued constantly by paparazzo's doesn't mean the kid should be forced into it.

But you know how tabloids are... anything for a juicy photo-op so they can pile up more Benjamin's to roll around in.

just seeing the kids in pictures are not an issue but there doesn't have to be a background or personal life about them. let alone the parents of these kids themselves.
