Should Britney Spears Remain Under Conservatorship?

It was just four years ago when pop megastar Britney Spears suffered a mental breakdown and seemingly deemed herself unfit to make career or personal choices alone. That paved the way for her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet to control the majority of her career under a conservatorship. But that was in 2008, when Spears was going through an ugly divorce, child custody battles, mental issues, and growing hair back after randomly shaving her head bald.

Spears has come a long way since then, most recently landing a prominent role on the hit show "The X Factor." She landed a $15 million contract to be on the show and according to RadarOnline.com, the popular recording artist feels that deal was her own doing, not the work of anyone else under her conservatorship. She told a judge she understands they are in charge of her career choices, but wonders why after she has her life back on track, that her father and attorney still run her personal life.

According to RadarOnline.com's sources, Spears' team of doctors believe she is simply not ready to end the conservatorship, presumably believing she could relapse into the bad habits that led to her career severely stalling in 2008. Spears and her fiancee Jason Trawick are set to meet with the judge within the next 60 days.

I have always been a fan of Ms. Spears. I think the Paris Hilton crowd got her headed in the wrong direction during a time when she was very vulnerable. She appears to have gotten straightened out so let her go. I am sure her father and that attorney are looking out for themselves money wise and want that flow to continue.

It's absurd that it happened in the first place. The concept of "conservatorship" as it exists in the US, simply doesn't exist in most countries. You can't control a person's life, unless that person is severely mentally disabled (eg. those with serious brain damage) and can't take care of themselves, in the most literal sense.

Who knows what could happen if she was allowed to gain access to her finances again? She may just relapse and her career could suffer as a result of that.

And is that anyones problem but hers? Of course no one, or most people, dont want to see others fail. But does that give other people the right to control her life? EVERY SINGLE PERSON has the potential of ruining their own life.

How can she, or anyone for that matter, be expected to live a normal life with people constantly putting her under a microscope and expecting her to screw up all the time? And God forbid she does make a mistake. The vultures sitting on their lofty perches will, no doubt, come swooping in, pointing and deriding with glee, saying "Ha ha we told you she was no good!"

Well both of her albums have done well , she hasn't had a breakdown , her kids are getting taken care of , she's in a new relationship and she looks happy . She has although not performed the same like she once did but im taking it to the fact that she may be insecure with her body . She is also part of the X factor so I think everything is going well for her so far , why not just trust she'll behave . ?

Pop singers, other than Mariah Carey, Celene Dion, (the late) Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Sheena Easton, and female Pop vocalists with similar range and ability.

Although I know Celine Dion does use autotune to hit her highest notes, you're mostly right. She can sing well enough without it and any singers that don't use it excessively or during live performances are fine. I know Whitney didn't use it live. She came here a few years ago and her singing was atrocious. She was in really bad voice and became the subject of a lot of negative criticism.

A few years ago, cocaine and excessive partying had taken its toll on Whitney's voice, before it got the best of her in the worst way.

I agree and I happen to like Whitney Houston. What I was trying to say is that as bad as her voice was at the time, she didn't resort to autotuning it.
