Bradley Cooper is considered a long shot in his race to win the Academy Award for “Silver Linings Playbook.” There are few who believe that Daniel Day-Lewis won’t nab the statue for his performance in “Lincoln.” But Cooper might already be setting his sights onto a role that could just help him take home the coveted gold. After all, Oscar loves biopics about tarnished idols -- just ask Robert De Niro about his victory for “Raging Bull.”

Of course, Cooper would be intrigued by the part of the infamous multiple Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong. “Star Trek” helmer J.J. Abrams is said to be developing the film after securing the rights to the upcoming book “Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong.”

There’s no denying that Armstrong’s story is riveting. Given his unparalleled career, romances with celebrities, humanitarian efforts in the fight against cancer and ultimate disgrace, it’s without a doubt one of the juiciest roles around. So it’s no wonder that Cooper told the BBC, “I would be interested in that. I think he's fascinating.”

But ultimately the air might be let out of Cooper’s tires. He acknowledged that he hasn’t entered into conversation with anyone officially about the role. And he just might lose the race to other big stars whose names are being bandied about including Matt Damon and Christian Bale. Do you think Bradley Cooper would play a good Lance Armstrong?

no one should play him , he is a loser what he did was dope his way to the top ,why make a movie of him , yeah let's show our kid's that it is ok to do what ever it take's to get to the top just as long as you don't get caught doing it he's just like Ricky Williams when he was with the Saint he was making all that money and could not leave the weed alone. yeah there's the hero's that you want to have your kid's looking up to.

Lance Armstrong is a deceitful looser who should just crawl under a rock and fade away. Why would we want to glorify his despicable behavior by making a movie about him. If I were a famous actor I would decline the role.

He's a good actor, and does look a little bit like Lance Armstrong, although,
I kind of feel that he could find a little better man than Lance to play in a
biopic. But I suppose that Lance's story does need to be told, in hope that
it might discourge any future athletes from going astray to the magnitude
that he went.

He definitely has the acting ability to portray a sociopathic bully who crushes decent people who stand in his way as he cloaks himself as a martyred hero for his own personal gain. The true villainy of this undiagnosed psychopath and the amount of hurt and damage he was able to inflict on so many who were a threat to his lie deserves to be outlined to the public. How he was able to con a nation for so long is a fascinating story. A great actor like Bradley Cooper could do a terrific job.

Cooper should not PLAY Lance Armstrong. He should PAY Lance Armstrong. Armstrong will need all the money he can get. If someone plays Lance Armstrong in a movie, it should be either Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens.

I agree, there should be no biopic made on Armstrong. And he shouldn't get any payment or credits for being the topic of the movie, it's illegal to make money from the avails of crime. Sick of hearing about him already, I wouldn't waste money seeing a movie about him. As for Brad Cooper - he can do better than that, there are far more interesting people to portray.
