Should Beyonce Direct the HBO Documentary of Her Life?

It was announced Monday that Beyonce will direct, produce and star in a new HBO documentary about her life. The film (which will air on February 16) is somewhat surprising since the singer is notoriously private, but Beyonce insists that it will be very personal. According to HBO, we will get to see her home movies that reveal "the close bond she built with her family and...the challenges Beyonce felt when she decided to manage her career and build her own company."

Being that Beyonce does make an effort to separate her private and personal lives, it makes sense that she would want to control every aspect of the film, but does that make for a good documentary? Are you excited for her take on her life, or do you wish someone else was directing it so that you'd get a better picture of the 16-time Grammy winner?

    Alright, let's just ignore the fact that she's yet another celebrity too young to be having a movie about her life.

    Let's talk about the fact that NO ONE should be directing the movie about their own life. You need someone objective for that. Someone that will present things as they are/were. Otherwise the movie is a total waste before you've even taken anything else into account.

    By all means direct it and show us what a self absorbed narcissist you are. Anyone having a vapid, empty life that would be interested in this really has to question what reason they have to live. I'm appalled.

    Of course she should. After all it's about HER life, and if she wants the entire unaltered
    truth to be revealed about herself, then she should be given control over own documentry.
    Beyonce Knowls is the best qualified, most belivable, and the most reliable source to tell
    the story of Beyonce Knowles life. Make it an autobiography, Beyonce.

    She should, but definately not right now. She is too young to have her own biography and I think she shouldn't have one until she is a lot older, but when the time comes, she should. No one will know her life better than her. Great question! This one really made me think.

    I'm sure Beyonce could direct a film (I'm not sure what qualifies one to do that), but isn't it a little pretentious or disingenuous to have an autobiographical film at her age? She's what, 30? 35 or thereabouts? It takes a heap of living to make a worthy biography, not just a ghost writer and a bunch of production numbers.

    I think its all fair, she has the right to choose what she wants to be revealed. Even though it may be more juicy if someone else does it... but you may never know..

    I like Beyonce, I think she's pretty amazing. I probably wont watch it since I don't have HBO, but you know what, it's HER life, why not direct it. She knows her life more than anyone else. Who cares if you don't care, it's her thing about her life, she can direct it if she wants to.

    True' but who really cares, it won't include all the people that was there to from the beginning like kelly and michelle; not that she'd mention all the other girls before them when destiny's child began as a singing group. Greedy is what she became, when is enough is enough for her?

    Exactly' we've watched the main parts of her life play out on stage. Some of us seen her as the little eleven or twelve year old girl try out on ed mcmahon's star search and not win. She just an entertainer that does not allow herself to get close to her fans; and yet its their money that made her the wealth she's accumulated.

    No one should right now. Why don't people wait until they have lived a while, and had some experiences before they start writing about themselves? Right now, I don't think anyone is really interested in her life. I know I'm NOT.
