Celebrity snowboarder Shaun White, who’s notorious for his long red hair, has cut off his curly locks and given them to charity. Check out the video below to see his long locks turn short!

The pro snowboarding champion uploaded a two minute video to YouTube on Tuesday, named “It’s Only Hair.” In the homemade clip, Shawn explains his decision, saying “"I've been thinkin' about this one for a while… it's for a good cause, so I wanna do it."

The man known as “The Flying Tomato” continues by saying "Somebody needs it more than I do,” before cheekily adding “I haven't told anyone I'm doing this, that's the best part. I'm just gonna show up and mind freak people."

As he arrives at the shop, he says “We might be cuttin' it. I'm a little nervous, you gotta go easy on me." Then, off comes the pony tail! Could you donate your hair to charity?

I have done so many times since a teenager for children with cancer, I had a couple of friends with cancer. There's nothing better to see someone with their new 'hair'. It's pretty cool, man.

P.S. It's a lie that they chop off all your hair. ; )

Homeless people don't need hair. No-one does. And if you're going to shave me bald,no. If you leave a tiny visible lair of hair that will grow back, then take my hair :)

If my hair was longer, I would. But I couldn't cut it off again. Plus, it's too short you need about 10 inches.

I already have given my hair and my children's hair to Locks of Love. They usually required the length to be 10" minimum, his ponytail didn't look that long. Maybe they changed the minimum? Anyway, good for him!

I could give my hair away. For the longest time, I thought I could not give my hair to Locks of Love because I color it regularly. I looked on their website and found that it's only bleached hair they will not take. Sice mine is just treated with color and not bleached, I could give it to Locks of Love. Since I call for platelet donations at work though, I am in a sense already helping cancer and leukemia patients as they can go through up to 40 units of platelets.

This is straight of the the Locks of Love Website

Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.
Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.
Hair that has been bleached (usually this refers to highlighted hair) is not usable. If unsure, ask your stylist. We are not able to accept bleached hair due to a chemical reaction that occurs during the manufacturing process. **If the hair was bleached years ago and has completely grown out it is fine to donate.
Hair that is swept off of the floor is not usable because it is not bundled in a ponytail or braid.
Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. If shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off.
We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.
Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches.
Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails.
Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.
10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.

    Please Note:

Shorter hair will be separated from the ponytails and sold to offset the manufacturing costs. ...

Gray hair will be accepted and sold to offset the manufacturing costs.
Colored hair is not usable if it is colored over bleached hair.
Because Locks of Love creates custom hairpieces for each child, we are unable to accept donations of wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.

So all of you saying that hair has to be virgin, you heard it straight from the Locks of Love people.

I cut off my hair several times and donated it to Locks of Love. They make wigs for children with cancer. If you have long hair and are going to cut it short, cut it the right way and donate it. See locks of love's website for details :)
