Each year the Motion Picture Academy makes the biggest decision of the year. No, not choosing the Best Picture. They must select the host for the Oscar ceremony. This year they picked Seth MacFarlane, creator of “Family Guy” and “American Dad.” In the past they’ve gone with the tried and true like Billy Crystal, the young and hip like James Franco and Anne Hathaway and a professional host like Ellen DeGeneres. Many were worried that Seth’s characters are fan favorites but no one really knows Seth’s face, just his voice(s). So the question of the hour is how did he do?

The William Shatner bit at the beginning of the night joked that he was “The Worst Oscar Host Ever” but after some funny moments he worked his way up to “Full-on Raves.” With songs like “We Saw Your Boobs,” with the gay men’s chorus, the flying nun skit with Sally Field and the reenactment of “Flight” with sock puppets, Seth had them laughing. But a few other jokes fell flat including the ones about Rihanna and Chris Brown, Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth. Still other bits like the Christopher Plummer “Sound of Music” bit got mixed reviews. What do you think: Was Seth MacFarlane’s Oscar performance a hit or a miss?

Watching Naomi Watts and Charlize Theron squirm was absolutely priceless.
