After a highly publicized romance, Hollywood's latest generation-spanning couple has called it quits.

Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn are no longer dating, a source tells PEOPLE.

Speculation about the pair began after Johansson did not attend the Cannes Film Festival with Penn for his movie The Tree of Life.

The reasons for the split are still unknown and their reps declined to comment, but it looks like curtains for this couple.
