It's out with the old, in with the new. Fred Armisen won't be playing President Obama when "Saturday Night Live" returns this weekend. Instead, newer cast member Jay Pharoah will take over presidential duties.

“Jay has been doing Obama in his act this summer, and Jay is coming into his own,” "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels told The New York Times. “I just thought it might be time to shake it up.”

Jason Sudeikis will reprise his role as Mitt Romney (he also plays Biden); Taran Killam is likely to play Paul Ryan. But Michaels admits that it's hard to make fun of Obama. Of his comedy hook, he tells the paper, "So far we haven’t found it."

The show is premiering a week early to capitalize on the political conventions. "We have at least three different takes on Clint," he said, referring to Clint Eastwood's "empty chair" speech at the RNC. Will you tune into "SNL" for election season? Or is the show simply not that funny anymore?

SNL had some gr8 moments, like the "Suck it, Trebek!" or "D*ck in a box" by Lonely Island. Most of it SUCKS. And it needs to stop.......needed to stop years ago.

SNL just lost it's appeal after the ninties. Give me Chris Farley (RIP) and Adam Sandler, back when SNL was actually laughable, in a good way.

How does a person "rely" on a tv show?? And how did you get to be the decider on whether or not someone who DOES like it is a moron? I don't watch it anymore just because to me it isn't as funny as when I watched it years ago.(I'm old---hope THAT doesn't make me a moron as well). But to call someone who disagrees with you a moron is also moronic!
