NFL's San Diego Chargers have won three games and only lost one game, but they have an uphill battle to reach the 2011 playoffs. The Chargers beat the 0-4 Minnesota Vikings and the 1-3 Kansas City Chiefs and 0-4 Miami Dolphins. The Chargers got smacked down 35-21 by the 3-1 New England Patriots. The Chargers have won despite injuries that have hampered them including the foot injury to QB Phillip Rivers' favorite target, TE Antonio Gates. WR Vincent Jackson recovered enough from his injuries to score on a long pass play. RB Ryan Matthews and Mike Tolbert continue to pound the ball o the ground.
The Chargers went 9-7 in the 2010 season and missed the playoffs after a loss at 3-11 Cincinnati Bengals. The Chargers need to get a win against the much improved 2-2 Oakland Raiders twice in 2011 season after losing both times in 2010. The Chargers also face the 4-0 Detroit Lions, 4-0 Green Bay Packers, 3-1 Baltimore Ravens, and 3-1 Buffalo Bills.
A good team like the Chargers will have a tough time getting to the playoffs even with a 3-1 start to the 2011 NFL season. Rivers will need more protection, a healthy Antonio Gates and some defense -- just what every football team needs. Unfortunately, I have all three of these key ingredients on my fantasy team and had to sit them the past few weeks.

As far as the Chargers go, all they have to do is worry about the Raiders. The Chiefs and Broncos aren't going to do anything. If the Chargers can stay on top of the Raiders then its all theirs.
