SAG Award Nominations Announced: Which Film Should Get the Top Award?

The nominations for 2013’s Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Thursday morning, and already they’re looking like an early indicator for the Academy Awards. Heading up the nominations are “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Lincoln” with four nods, and “Les Miserables,” with three.

“Silver Linings Playbook” has picked up nominations for its two leads Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as well as supporting actor Robert De Niro, all of whom play characters struggling with mental illness. They have also been nominated for the top award, Cast in a Motion Picture.

“Lincoln” has received a nomination for Daniel Day Lewis’ powerhouse performance as Abraham Lincoln, while Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field received supporting nods. The film also has a nomination for the cast. The other films competing for the cast award are “Les Miserables,” “Argo” and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.”

“Modern Family” leads the nominations for TV, with four. Which film would you like to see win the award for Cast in a Motion Picture?

For me my mind reverted back to when I was in school, and more importantly I reflected upon what my grandparents and mother told me about the deep south. Spielburg really out did himself with this movie and he does deserve a nomination, as does Sally Fields and Tommy Lee Jones deserve recognition for their performances. Awesome movie.

I had never heard of Daniel Day-Lewis, Spielburg made such a wise choice of selecting him to play the part of Lincoln

I haven't watched any of these films yet, but I'm voting for Lincoln for two reasons; it's the story of one of our most cherished presidents and because I can't imagine anyone other than Daniel Day Lewis playing this role. In my opinion, Lewis could possibly be the best actor of all time.

Agreed, one of my friends complained about Lewis being cast as Lincoln and I seriously considered dumping her as a friend. I have so many movies to watch but this one is one of the ones I'm excited to see.

LOL....I would consider your friends comment as a violation of the holy sacrament of the arts. In a handsome way, I think Lewis even resembles Lincoln. This is one movie I'll go see in a theater.

I have seen all of them except Les Miserables which won't be out until the 25th, but Lincoln was fabulous vs the others being good.

Or Silver Lining Playbook. But I'm just biased towards Les Mis ;)

If Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence don't get any more nominations I'll be shocked but most of all I'll be really surprised to see if Jennifer Lawrence doesn't win an award! Both of them played such captivating characters with such depth that I really felt for them. I think this time around she should definitely recieve that Oscar.

Didn't say I saw the film. I've seen all other film adaptions, numerous times in it's musical adaption and I own three different cast soundtracks and I read the book about ten times by now ever since I read it the first time in the seventh grade. Either way I know I'm going to love it.

I read the book and visited the towns mentioned. What a great story. Enjoy the film! I will prob wait a while since I don't like musicals. It's a man thing lol

Ha ha it's a fabulous story. I can't wait! I'm actually going to see it this Saturday because of a friend that works at a movie theater and they gave her one extra ticket and I begged and pleaded for her to take me. That's really cool you were able to go to the towns mentioned, if I wasn't so poor I would've loved to have been able to do that.

I have just learned that both "Lincoln" and "Les Mis" will not be in direct competition at both the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards. "Lincoln" is nominted for best drama, "Les Mis" is nominated for best musical or comedy.
