The late, great Dick Clark may be best known for his annual special "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve." Now the young man he mentored in host, producer and entrepreneur, Ryan Seacrest, will be flying solo this year. Clark, who had a reduced role in the annual event over the last few years, passed away this spring. So this will be Seacrest's first time counting down to midnight all on his own. But the "American Idol" star says he can handle it.

That's not to say Seacrest won't have any help that night. Joining him during the show will be Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and actress Jenny McCarthy. "New Year's Rockin' Eve" also boasts major musical acts set to perform including Pitbull, Carly Rae Jepsen, Taylor Swift, OneRepublic, Karmin, Neon Trees, Brandy and Flo Rida.

"New Year's Rockin' Eve" doesn't end at midnight though. The show will help viewers kick off 2013 and be on the air for an additional two hours, after the famous ball drops in Times Square. Whatever challenge presents itself on December 31, Seacrest seems to be more than up for it. What do you think: Will he ring in 2013 right?

He's been doing it, just fine, for years now! Since Dick Clark had his stroke!
He was Dick Clark's Hand picked successor...who are we to question that choice!

Jenny McCarthy was a train wreck. Really embarassing to watch, especially with the awkward ass shaking in front of the NYC police officers

Seacrest is the consummate master of ceremonies. He even reminds me of the late, great Dick Clark.

I don't know why people watch those shows, they play more commercials than anything, the songs are the same tired ones everyone has heard 1,000 times on the radio already. I'm sick of how robot our society is becoming.

Not a big seacrest fan but Dick trained him right and he does a good job with the show. I just hope that a hundred years from now, when seacrest's successor's successor is doing the show, that it is still called Dick Clark's New Years Rockin eve.

I don't doubt he can host something like this after the many hosting jobs he has had on many shows and interviews with celebrities or future celebrities. It is mostly the preformances that are the highlight of the night though, so that makes his job easier.

I always felt sorry for Dick. I'll probably have drank to much Champagne to care what he does. I'll be having too much of a good time to bother with him.

Technically, he's been doing it on his own for the past few years. So, I don't see him doing anything different. May get a bit somber at midnight, though, considering.
