Ryan Lochte's Sister Apologizes for Racist Remarks: Just a Skit, or Inexcusable?

If you're like the rest of America, you've probably been crushing on Olympics hottie Ryan Lochte. His sister Megan Jean Lochte Torrini? Probably not so much... especially if you heard her racist remarks in a video that went around last weekend.

ryan lochte

In a 2008 appearance on a late-night comedy talk show called "Closing Time," hosted by Mickey Cucchiella, which was shot after the Olympic Games in Beijing, Megan says, "China was chinked out." She also describes China as "Chinks, everywhere."

Cucchiella advises Megan not use the word "chink," and Megan says: "But it, like, fits them, because they're like, chinks!" She goes on to say that Chinese people "drive like ninjas." Cucchiella responds that ninjas are Japanese, and Megan says: "They're whatever we want, they're Asian."

But Lochte has since apologized for the video, explaining that it was just a skit. "I would like to apologize for the video that is circulating on the Internet from 2008," she said in a statement, according to E!. "During that time, I played a character on a television comedy show called 'Closing Time TV,' which was a show with different comedy skits, fake news skits, staged interviews, etc. The video in question reflects a skit from the show in which I acted as an ignorant guest on a talk show that made ignorant comments. This was not a real interview, and it in no way reflects my true feelings or persona whatsoever." Do you buy her apology?

I imagine she regrets making this skit. I am sure everybody in their lifetime has said things they regret, God knows I have. Why do we have to be a society who keeps pushing people down and stepping on them when they are down, and making sure everybody else knows when they have made a mistake? How I wish we could up lift each other and stop finding enjoyment at the expense of others!

It makes a difference to the people on the left. They whine about hate speech and intolerance all day long, but when a leftist acts with hatred and intolerence they applaud it. They show nothing but hate and intolerance to anyone who disagrees with their ideas.

She has no backbone. Like most other celebs nowadays.

First, she does a truly courageos thing: defied the stupid social mores and even the giant network that hosted the show. Then she turns around and apologizes. Compromises HER values because of pressure put upon her by pc stuffed shirts. She should have suggested they perform and un-natural act.

Who the hell cares if something is 'racist'? It's an imitation of life isn't it? Life includes racism and racists, right? AND somewhere I remember a little thing called freedom of the press. This clearly extends to include this skit in that category.

Geez, people! Where the hell have your balls gone!

There are those today that never had any from the start. Those born after 1980 were indoctrinated into, and believe in this horrible, wretched regime impetus called political correctness. That's because they've never known any other paradigm.

It's getting scarier and scarier seeing this happening. And unless like minded sensible people band together and demand that it stops they'll have the whole country adopting PC speak forever.

Follow that demand up with irresistible force. If we don't, we will be be forever stripped of the right to say anything to anybody.

    One word: Liberal.

I won't argue with you. You are a child and as such should shut the hell up and listen to those that have lived in this hell hole of a world almost 3 times as long as yoiu.

I've picked up enough knowlege and wisdom (however miniscule my wisdom is) to spend days ministering to you without a peep from youe lips. Even then, your opinion (such as I understand it) would be questionable.

    I don't argue with kids.

So you're also a hypocrite? Believe me, I'd never do the same thing you do. And you read what I say solely to refute its content. To me, that seems to travel along the lines of an unflattering part of the anatomy. Circuitous and usually empty part of the anatomy.

    Same here.

In yesteyear when it was still 'permitted' to behave without pressure from these dingtbats and much of the 'racist' conversation was in humor and jest. and nobody got offended or put on any other manufactured feeling that would have been considered today. And adopted permanently into the pc vault of stupidity.

People today seem to gravitate toward cowering stupidity when it comes to their r

Yes, I am aware, but there are words that can be classified as quite offensive, and there are words that can be seen as very offensive based on the history of groups and how they were (and often still are) treated.

You speak with the mind of a child. I know that if it 'offends' me I can refrain from viewing it. But I won't. I'll whine and complain until nobody is permitted to read it.Or possess it. Or show it to anyone. Or see what it says, if ever one can read it.

Oh, but I have to make sure that NOBODY is offended,

Must be hard walking around with a shaft protruding from one's posterior

And please do not cut and paste the parts of my comment to your reply; I can remember what I said..
