What word would you have me spell differently? You can look up anything I wrote and find it spelled correctly and used properly.

i think all these americans missed out on that...
Say what you will about their big budget films, and TV series, we have better panel shows, and the like.
Russel Howards Good news, QI, Have i got news for you. I've yet to see an american show that even comes close.

we certainly have better improv. I'm not sure if it's just the ones that come over here, but the majority of american comedians seem to work on incredibly strict scripts. a pre-determined set of stories, speeches, or one liners.
They can reel of jokes, but they can't respond to things the same way ours can, watching people Sean Loch, or Jimmy Carr talking to an audience is just amazing.

He tries way too hard to be funny and fails, coming off instead as much too annoying.

I feel the same exact way. I can't stand him at all. However, I loved his character is Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. His stand up though....UUUUGGGHHH.

Whoa, hold on there! I was NOT trash-talking British humor. I merely said that I wish Russell Brand would return to his "side of the pond" and bore the English to death, instead of subjecting Americans to his crapulous shtick. Thus, I implied that the Britons would be equally unmoved by his so-called "comedy." Hey, I'm a HUGE fan of English comedy, such as "Monty Python," "Benny Hill," Keeping Up Appearances," Waiting For God," "Vicar Of Dibley," "Are You Being Served," "Black Adder," and many, many other fine shows that the U.S. has imported from Great Britain. American comedy is FULL of irony and satire, too. "The Daily Show," "The Colbert Report ," skits on "Saturday Night Live," "Real Time With Bill Maher," and other TV shows are hilarious, but smartly done, humor. I didn't mean to in ANY WAY imply that British humor is lame, only that Russell Brand is. I hope this clarifies matters between us!

He was very popular (still is) in Britain. I saw his rise to fame. He was loved by his audience (which is massive over here... sels out arena shows instantly) for basically his raw honesty. He gave great insight into his battles with drugs, and his feelings on sex and the world was a pure eloquence and whimsy... but ultimately he just put himself out on the stage warts and all. People respected him for talking about his issues, and injecting humour in to him. His first stand up dvd was superb. His shows were often chaotic... never being the same each time. He was just very exciting at the time and very much against the norm. Plus he is rather sarcastic and dry witted... another British trait. I think it's a cultural gap.

I suppose Russell Brand's comedy is an acquired taste. Personally, I adore humor that is smart, satirical, sarcastic and dry. Many times, a celebrity is big in Europe, yet not so much so in America. [For example, David Hasselhoff's singing is extremely popular in Germany, but not here in the U.S. haha] I'm sorry, but I just don't find Russell Brand funny in the least. Then again, there's no accounting for taste!

Amen to that! ALL awards show suck, IMO, but the MTV Movie Awards show is by far the lamest. I get sick of the celebrity suckfest we're subjected to at all these events.

No, no, no. Not only is there an MTV Video Awards show, they have the MTV Movie Awards every year, too. (Yeah, like the world needed another awards show, right?) The statuette given for the various movie categories is made in the image of a tub of popcorn. Pretty cool, huh? (NOT!) And the categories themselves are cringe-worthy, giving accolades and awards for such things as "Best KIss." For example, the Best Kiss award in 2003 went to -- envelope, please -- Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire, for their upside-down smooch in "Spider-Man." Just to give you a general idea of how asinine and meaningless the MTV Movie Awards are, the crapulous "Twilight" flicks have always cleaned up at this event. Puke. This year, think "Hunger Games." More puke. If you've ever watched this tripe (and I strongly suggest that you DON'T), you'll understand why MTV has chosen a dick like Russell Brand to host their awards show. Unstoppable puke.
