I think so! First pop song I noticed as a child after I heard Heart of Gold (Neil Young) was Maggie Mae. My mom bought me the 45! He has a distinctive sound. I have to say though, I didn't enjoy his crooner offering all that much.
Ha, when you get older losing your hair, many years from now (Ringo) :) My choice for crooning would have to be Tony Benett, i digress, my favourite song by Rod Stewart has always been 'You got a nerve', i posted it below.
A few years ago my friend had his appartment burgled, they took everything they could carry, with the exception of his Rod Stewart albums...it's true !!! I couldn't stop laughing :))
Oh that's sad! Poor Rod! No respect! :o) He was sort of the odd man out though during the time he was cutting his teeth. Still is and I think he likes it that way! Besides, what woman could resist this one . . .
He has a very distinctive voice, and I loved "Maggie May" and "Forever Young". Later, he started singing a lot of the old standards, and those sound even better to me.
There are a few of his songs that I liked but I wasn't a fan of his by any means. He's OK but nothing I ever wanted to seriously follow like the Beatles.
