It's not really about respect. To be in a love triangle you don't have to be having sex with both people. It's like being confused on who to pick. When I was younger and less experienced with guys, I THOUGHT I was in love with two guys. And it was hard to choose. Ya know? But! You know what happened? I ended up being with NEITHER. This amazing guy I'm with now, his old best friend, is my ex. That's how we met. And that's another time I had trouble choosing. But the other guy got over it and now they're friends. It's not always disrespectful. Especially if you're young and confused.

I was really stupid and desperate at the time. Less than a year before, I had been raped. This fellow who was a co-worker of mine acted all sympathetic, told me I was the only one for him, and I believed him. Then I came to find out that he was messing around with this cheap floozy from the store where he rented his porn. (Yeah, he was quite the winner.) I had no self esteem and was making a complete fool of myself to keep him.
I knew I had to make a complete break from the situation. One day I left work and never came back. It was hard as hell, but I resisted calling him no matter how much I felt like I just had to hear his voice. After a month, I couldn't believe I'd been stupid enough to let such a creep near me. This was the late 90's, and I had another job within a couple of months. So things turned out okay after all.
As the saying goes, never make someone your priority when you are only their option.

well, i guess so. i was talking to this guy forever, then we got serious, then things kind of went downhill and we were in a big fight. then he started dating another girl. but we fixed everything and we were talking again and his girlfriend hated me. she would always give me dirty lookes and talk bad about me to me and behind my back. and i absolutely despised her. then when they broke up, it got even worse. but it got the worst when i started dating him. and she really was like harrassing me, and then she called me white trash.... it was just bad. so i guess thats a love triangle? but i never dated him while they were together or anything, or vice versa...

Haha it's actually kind of funny now that I think about it. This guy had a huge crush on me, and I never had an intention of being with him but I loved being his friend and talking to him... soon my friend introduced him to this girl that was somewhat desperate for romance, and he starts telling her she's a nice girl but he has feelings for me. She then starts trying to convince him to let go of me blahblahblah, and I found myself in competition even though I didn't even like him that way, I just didn't like how she was making it seem like a competition! Before this she was going for a guy I had been with months earlier... now she's with my brother.

More like a love pentagon, baha. Boyfriend went through some sort of late teen (18) crisis and decided he wanted to date around. I guess I can't blame him because I had been his girlfriend since he was 15 and he missed out on the multiple dating experience most teenagers get. Anyways, that lasted about a month and I found myself in "competition" with some other girls until he got over it and decided dating around wasn't all that he thought it was and was ready to be back in a relationship.

I've techincally been in one for years. My ex still cared about me. My current boyfriend didn't care if he and I talked, but as long as I never started a relationship (meaning as long as I didn't cheat on him).
My boyfriend doesn't consider him a friend either- understandable- but they do talk every couple months. usually a simple text that says 'be nice to her' or some other variation of it. It makes me laugh.

that's my situation. But my boyfriend can't be convinced that we are just very good friends with nothing more going on. Sometimes my old friend will text me and I'll never know because my boyfriend deletes it. Even if it's just a what's up, or check out this song. -____- oh well

If that song wasn't the biggest "F*ck you!" that guy could have given to both her and the rest of the world after all that, I don't know what is. So yeah, I'd say it's probably a good thing she's moving on - I'm surprised she hadn't already.
