Rihanna More Concerned Over Chris Brown Than Herself: Is She Too Forgiving of Him?

For someone who was assaulted, Rihanna certainly feels sorry for her ex-boyfriend. The R & B star tells Oprah in an interview scheduled to air Sunday that she was more concerned about Chris Brown than herself after he attacked her in 2009, leaving her cut and bruised.

"It became a circus and I felt protective. I felt like the only person they hate right now is him," she says. “It was a weird, confusing space to be in because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who's going to help him? Nobody’s gonna say he needs help. Everybody’s gonna say he’s a monster without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him," adding that she lost her "best friend." Brown, now 23, pleaded guilty to a felony after assaulting his now 24-year-old ex. Forgiving is not the proper word. I think she is too naive about him, and hasn't faced the facts of his violent nature.

I think be gave her brain damage in the beating ! I also think for Oprah to ask her those questions in an interview shows just how DESPERATE she has become for ratings of ANY kind on her network !! Forgive & Forget is adaptable for different situations. I think that she's right to want to give him help. If he doesn't recieve help, what's to say he won't do it again? There's nothing light about her abuse, and no one should make it out to be that way... but come on. Life is short. Tie up your loose strings before it's time to go, and make things right.

I also think she's acting this way to show her "acting chops". She added drama to the interview to get sympathy and empathy directed towards her. Of course Oprah loves this stuff and spent way too much time telling her to be strong, yada, yada,yada...then there's the leaking of tears which makes for great tv moments on a failed network....

I think that she understands that he has problems.
people have issues that cause them to lash out at the people they are closest to.
as long as She's continues to believe he needs help, she will be o.k. It's the women(mostly)that believe the incident was isolated who end up being attacked repeatedly.
and BTW... there ARE women out there who thrive on violence.
I had a girlfriend who was turned on when she saw me angry. some of the best sex we ever had was when she saw me get in a fight and when I had to yell at a restaurant worker.
we're not together anymore. But, I sincerely believe that if I had put my hands on her, we might still be a couple. Not my style though.

Recalling what happened though, she was biting him and beating him in the head while he was driving down the highway. That might make her feel somewhat responsible for him losing his composure. But, to come right out and say that would be possible career suicide for her...to admit that she was out of control.

She knows the man needs help. His actions demonstrate the pressure of his life is too much and his only release is violence. He needs help to learn to cope better and find another way to release stress.
