For someone who was assaulted, Rihanna certainly feels sorry for her ex-boyfriend. The R & B star tells Oprah in an interview scheduled to air Sunday that she was more concerned about Chris Brown than herself after he attacked her in 2009, leaving her cut and bruised.

"It became a circus and I felt protective. I felt like the only person they hate right now is him," she says. “It was a weird, confusing space to be in because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who's going to help him? Nobody’s gonna say he needs help. Everybody’s gonna say he’s a monster without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him," adding that she lost her "best friend." Brown, now 23, pleaded guilty to a felony after assaulting his now 24-year-old ex. Do you think Rihanna is too forgiving of Brown?

Plus when you're a role model for people, ya your going to get a little extra attention.

I mean since it is so minor an offense.
Honestly, he beat her to where the entire world saw marks, bruises, and more. To worry about him and all that? Forget it!
Punishment and abuse does NOT mean love, Rhianna. Find out what messages you got from home that made you think and feel that you do not matter.
Tell Chris that Sportmart has a sale on the heavy duty punching bags. He has more than enough money to get some! He should hook up with Mike Tyson for a group discount!
Forgiveness is not quite on the radar because of those mixed feelings. She doesn't know one from the other.
Self comes first. when basic needs are met (positive environment and self esteem/ love/ nurturing that helps one protect oneself growing into adolescence and adulthood, etc.) then it's more balanced. Obviously neither Rhianna, Chris or anyone who goes through this giving or on the receiving end had not gotten any positive messages at home.
