It's that time of year again! Nominees for the 29th annual MTV Video Music Awards have been announced, and the top contenders are ... Rihanna and Drake, with five nods each. The exes will also face off against Chris Brown in two different categories. Drama!

Katy Perry has four nominations; Kanye West and Justin Bieber have two each. In the coveted Video of the Year category, the nominees are: Katy Perry, "Wide Awake"; Gotye, "Somebody That I Used To Know"; Rihanna, "We Found Love"; Drake feat. Rihanna, "Take Care" and M.I.A., "Bad Girls."
Meanwhile, Fun. feat. Janelle Monae, Carly Rae Jepsen, Frank Ocean, One Direction
and The Wanted are up for Best New Artist. The show airs live from Los Angeles on Sept. 6; viewers can vote for their favorites at vma.mtv.com. Who are you rooting for this year?
