During her acceptance speech for the Generation Award at the MTV Movie Awards, Reese Witherspoon took a stand for all the "good girls" in Hollywood.

"I get it, girls, that it's cool to be a bad girl. But it is possible to make it in Hollywood without doing a reality show. When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed and you hid it under your bed. And if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hide your face, people!" she said in her acceptance speech. "So, for all the girls out there, it's totally possible to be a good girl. I'm going to try to make it cool."

Blake Lively was a presenter Sunday night and we wonder if this wasn't a dig to the "Gossip Girl" queen for her latest naked pix scandal.

Is Witherspoon right? Can "good girls" be "cool" in Hollywood?

Before all the sex tapes there was and probable still is the casting couch. I would think that sexual favors that are performed for producers, directors, head of studios ect would not classify one as a "good girl". I am not sure what the percentage is of those who get jobs on talent only, and those with other talents.

Absolutely, but our dysfunctional society and especially our young immature women have chosen to reward the slut, talentless airheads like Kendra, the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, and the like to thrive and succeed on reality TV becoming famous after putting out sex tapes. These types have no shame for their behavior, it's all about making money by attracting low IQ viewers who have nothing better to do with their lives.

There is nothing wrong with sex tapes... it is called sex symbol for a reason and she is implying it is bad... you don't have to do anything you don't want to do but implying something is wrong or bad is something else again...no you don't have to have a sex tape to be a sex symbol but sex symbols are still symbols and it is a good way to make a living...

I have always wondered why any girl would let their character down by doing any form of sex scene on film. And the men that have persuaded some women to do this have lowered their character that much more as far as I'm concerned. There doesn't have to be sex and cursing in a film to make it good. Those that do this apparently don't have much faith in their own ability to make a terrific movie without sex. And I do feel good girls can make it in Hollywood by doing what is right...and those that care more for money than the individual have no character at all...and no respect for themselves.

Good Girls can't make it in Hollywood! You don't have to be a HO, but you must be liberal, or you will never get the recognition from the press, (most all are liberal)! You will never get the acting-singing-dancing parts that you deserve.

Sure. How anyone "makes" it depends on their own personal set of values and what they think is right and wrong. People who compromise their values are always going to be there and everywhere but there are those who can hold true to themselves. The place or industry, in this case Hollywood, has nothing to do with it. We like to blame anything other than ourselves when it comes to how we behave. Truth is the only people we ever can really blame for anything is ourselves.

Realistically, everyone is just interested in seeing big celebrities fail. I'll back any 'good girl' but the media won't, it's sad but it's true, and everyones saying they can are lying. People try to be good and make one slip and everyone hates them. Publicity and scandals and rubbish are all the media shows us and people are interested in it. I think that they SHOULD, but with the lifestyles Hollywood people have, they don't stand a chance.
