In 1955, before he became famous on TV, Elvis recorded "I Forgot To Remember To Forget." At the time he sang country rock songs on the "Louisiana Hayride." I went out and bought the record, and in January of 1956, he appeared on "Stage Show:" produced by Jackie Gleason and starring Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. He was an instant sensation, and I told all my friends that I already had one of his records. They did not believe me until I showed it to them. He was the first celebrity I experienced at the beginning of his career who died! It was a shock and made me feel old. He is still the greatest.

Back in the 50s, 60s,...his music and the handsome body just drove me crazy......seriously, even today, still love his music.

He had some excellent writers and the Jordanaires . . . I think that it was Jimmy Stewart who once said; “I was never casted in a bad movie.” It was Frank Sanatra who staged a 65-piece Brass Orchestra in front of him, and he, in the meantime, would adorn himself in a tuxedo, with a red carnation and all; and then stand there with a microphone in his hand, and basically just talk in between loud blasts of music. Presley made a tremendous amount of mistakes . . . One just outright major screw-up was the music of “You Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog” . . . Just try listening to it sometimes without him singing . . . “OHHH! MY GOD!!! You Gotta Be Kidding!”

I was born in 1951 and lived the blues, R&B;, Funk, Country, Reggae, big band....I was blessed in the music field, plus I'm a life long musician of the blues.Coming from a black background there was a lot of controvery regarding Elvis and the black community, but I never heard Elvis say anything negative regarding black people....it was just the other way around, seemed to me he was giving credit to black churches and musicians for his success. He couldn't help it if he was a white guy that could lay it down with the best of them. Elvis was very well received in my household as well as the other black households. I am an Elvis fan. Now, Jerry Lee Lewis....as good as he was, was a racist and didn't seem to care who knew it....always in competition, never giving any credit to the founders of his craft.

I don't kmow why I'm not a big fan I guess cuz I had 6 older sisters an they were Beatles fans an our mom wasn't crazy 4 him either but I do like a couple of his songs
