People love talent contests. "The Original Amateur Hour" was on TV from 1948 to 1970. It was on radio from 1934 to 1945.

This show and others like it are as stale as 3 week old bread they've run their course. The only reason to watch it at first was the first couple of weeks while the freak no talent acts were on.

peoples tastes change. There have been talent search shows before with varying degrees of popularity. One day they are going to wake up and it will all be over...that's show biz.

As much as I enjoy the show (or at least, the original version...), it's time for it to go.
X-factor has taken over because... well? Simon.
I just wish the X-factor would allow their contestants to sing songs of THEIR choice, rather than the judges. If they did that... that show would be perfect. That's the only thing I liked about American Idol.

I think it is just about cooked. When it is more about infantile celebs than the people trying out than it is past it's prime. I don't watch it anymore and I saw all of them but decided this year enough is enough. Too much high school popularity and better talent is selected on the voice.

Watched most of the first season. Maybe a third of the second. Gave it another shot for the final four last season. I'm done. I give it two more seasons tops.

I watched it last night for a second just to see the big fight between Nikki and Mariah...it's sad because they have scared off the talent..The people was saying that they was scared that the 2 ladies would fight, it has gotten so bad.But Dramma for the SHOW...after the fight I turned to another station.

Nikki...she walked off the show and it was canceled for 2 days, and then they changed her seat. The Talent was scared to come on the show, because of the fighting between the 2.
