Is "The Office" still going? It is? We could have sworn it already ended. Well, if you're worried about the show's season nine renewal, at least you've got this to look forward to. According to Hitfix, NBC is planning a spin-off based on Rainn Wilson's character, Dwight Schrute, and will take place on the character's much-alluded-to family beet farm. "Office" showrunner Paul Lieberstein will also be onboard as producer.
But this isn't the first time creators of "The Office" have announced a spin-off. They planned one for 2009, but ended up with "Parks and Recreation" instead, which received decent reviews but wasn't anywhere near as successful. Creators have continued to hint at a spin-off ever since. There's no title to speak of ("The Farm"? Not likely) and it's currently slated for a 2013 premiere. That's a long way away, but sources say the events leading up to the spin-off might actually begin toward the end of season eight of "The Office."
UPDATE: Wilson tweeted on Thursday, "Don't believe everything you read in the press, ok?" It's (perhaps intentionally) unclear whether he's referring to the entire spin-off, or some of the details surrounding it.

Delightful+6He would be great in a spin off. Rainn Wilson is the only real funny actor left since our beloved Mr Scott left. I sure miss him! I'm not gay or anything, but I would love to give Steve C a hug! I love you man! Come back to The Office!!!

If they do make a spin-off, I hope they have Jim too.
Rainn Wilson is are brilliant actor, I'd love to see what's in store nexted.
