You can try and fight it, but sooner or later you're bound to see a cheesy romance that chokes you up and tugs at your saccharine little heart. Whether it's a bladed realism of tragedies like "Titanic" and "The Notebook," or the silly sentimentality of "50 First Dates" or "You've Got Mail," something's gonna get ya. We wanted to know what the most popular cheesy romance is, so we asked the public.

"The Notebook"
"The Notebook" is a tragic tale of death-do-us-part based on the best-selling 1996 Nicholas Sparks book. We don't want to give too much away, but the sheer emotional impact of the frame story is enough to bring a grown man to tears. If you can somehow manage to make it through without tearing up... Well, we won't believe you.

We're actually kind of surprised "Titanic" didn't win by a landslide. It was the highest-grossing film of all time for more than a decade, after all. We have no qualms about giving this one away: Leo appears, Leo falls in love, Leo dies, girls cry. It's a golden formula. There's also something about a ship?

"50 First Dates" is kind of like "Groundhog Day." Only Bill Murray is a chick and Punxsutawney is in Oahu. And he isn't actually reliving the same day; he's just crazy. Also Adam Sandler is there, and he's not terrible. It's kind of unrealistic. But cute! Anyway, it's the highest-ranked romcom on the list, so props for that.

This wouldn't be complete without a list of write-ins: "10 Things I Hate About You" (Top Opinion), "Moulin Rouge," "Pride and Prejudice," "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist," "27 Dresses," "Say Anything," "Roxanne," "(500) Days of Summer," "The Holiday," "City of Angels," "Valley of the Dolls," and plenty more.

normany.burfield 2012/06/06 02:05:32+6Notebook is the BEST by far. My husband even likes that movie. I watch it any time it's on.

I really HATE Nicholas Sparks. I think his writing is poor and his subject matter repetitive, but I admit the movie rendition of The Notebook was good.
...okay, maybe not in the same catagory. \m/

Great. That's okay. Like I said, it's on Netflix :)
