PUBLIC OPINION > Naked Photos Will Help Prince Harry's Image

SodaHead Celebs 2012/08/23 21:00:00
Prince Harry landed in the headlines this week when a handful of naked pictures leaked to the public, reportedly taken during a game of strip billiards at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. The photos have been banned in Britain, but sometimes these things actually boost celebrity images. We asked the public if the pics will ultimately help or hurt Prince Harry.

Most people agreed that the pictures will help his image, if anything. As one respondent wrote, "So he proved he is a normal guy who likes to have fun once in a while. Big f'ing deal. I have more respect for the guy knowing he has a real personality and isn't just a royal robot." And hey, he hasn't had this much attention in a while. One young commenter wrote, "I didn't even know he existed before."

Teens Aren't Impressed

Younger voters were actually less likely to say the pictures will help his image. That's a good thing, if you ask us. If teens are opposed to naked pictures, maybe it means they'll be less likely to do it. On the other hand, older voters realize he's old enough to handle himself and make his own decisions. And it's, you know, legal.

Liberals and Conservatives Agree

For once, we have a consensus along the political aisle. Liberals and conservatives are both split on the issue. We expected conservatives to lean toward "hurt," since they tend to vote against promiscuity, but in this case the question wasn't whether or not he should have done what he did. It was just about predicting the impact.

Big Money Thinks It's a Big Plus

One of the most optimistic demographics was actually people who make $100,000 a year or more. The vast majority (85%) predict a positive impact on his image, and if we're going to trust anyone on this subject, it's going to be them. On average, only about 55% of people who make less than $100,000 a year agreed.

The worst thing about it imo was that he set himself up for a major legal action along the lines of "The Prince sexually assaulted me" or "How could I say no to a PRINCE?" It was VERY indiscreet, but aside from that, I think the embarrassment to the Crown is the most negative fall-out. Like Monica Lewinski, it matters more at home than elsewhere.

You, and people like you, are what fan the flame and cause a market for this kind of trashy reporting. You ought to mind your own business. For shame!

What on earth are you talking about? I say he was indiscreet, and you say I cause a market for trashy reporting?

Interestingly, however, the Queen (or King, as the case may be) can fire the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister typically writes her speech to Parliament, but she can actually disregard it & write her own. The Queen does not want to rule England... but she could if she chose to.
England's an interesting place politically. The Queen actually owns more property than anyone else on Earth. Those who have a British passport are not actually citizens, but are subjects of the Queen.

Yeah, the position is pretty much a figure head, but that can actually change. I would venture to say that the public's opinion of the royal at the top in comparison to their opinion of the members of Parliament makes a huge difference. Were England's government to be overly corrupt & "royally" screwing the public, I'm pretty sure that they would fully support an honest re-taking over of national rule. Not that it would be easy, but I'm pretty sure that it could happen... were it to be found necessary.

(I wish our people would get into that mind-set & band together to take back our government from our overly corrupt so-called representatives.)

The royals and Monarchy will certainly fall provided everything about them is aired publicly. At the moment there is an abundance of pro-monarchy blindness and prejudice, a major problem for us at the moment.

You think that the royal family is going to fall?

    Really?

    I can't imagine that... ever.

I mean, they do a lot of charity work all over the world, but, of course, I don't really know what other purpose they serve at the moment. I know that the Queen COULD take back control, were it warranted & with enough public support, however that isn't even on anyone's mind... including hers (Personally, I think she looks as if she's about sick & tired of being Queen & is likely ready to hand the whole thing over to Chucky-Cheese so she can just cool out with her weirdo hubby till one/both kick the bucket.).

I am not alone in that view. BUT it depends on whether the Establishment in Britain which is actually the royals AND her/his government allow details of their shenanigans to be aired publicly. There is already proven evidence of a cover up by the BBC, or shall we say prejudicial censorship, re the Queen and her Jubilee presentation. Wikileaks was able to release details regarding one of the Queen's sons. Possibly in the future more stuff will come to light via Wikileaks,Anonymous or a similar investigative site. The exclusion from the FOIA was the last straw as far as many journalists was concerned, and I have no doubt that serious ferreting will be the result. You cannot imagine Britain becoming a people democracy in the next decade?
