PUBLIC OPINION > Marc Anthony Scored a Better Rebound Than JLo

SodaHead Celebs 2012/01/09 22:00:00
Hollywood couples are falling like dominoes this winter. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry and Russell Brand, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett... But when Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony split in July after seven years of marriage they didn't waste much time finding new birds. In fact, they're both dating people young enough to be their kids. Anthony, 43, is dating 24-year-old Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima; Lopez, 42, is dating 24-year-old choreographer Casper Smart. Awkward? You bet. We asked SodaHeads which scored the better rebound but that question took second stage to the real issue.

Who Scored the Better Rebound?

shannon de lima

55% Prefer Marc Anthony's Rebound

They both got a lot of votes, but Shannon De Lima came out ahead. However, there was a bigger topic of discussion than who did better. Most people were asking what these celebs could possibly be thinking, dating people nearly half their age. Did they not get the notice about Ashton and Demi? It's true that people find love in the strangest places, but that doesn't mean dating a 24-year-old is a good idea. The Top Opinion read, "What could either of them have in common with someone half their age? I think each one is trying to make the other jealous. Jennifer will land on her feet as she is talented and the public loves her ... [Anthony] is a womanizing pig who just happens to come from a wealthy family."

chart

Casper Takes the Teen Vote

For the most part, starting at 18, voters preferred JLo's rebound as they got older. However, teens stood out as the most Casper-friendly group. Judging by the pictures, we can kind of see why young adults would be opposed to the guy -- voters noted a resemblance to K-Fed, "Jersey Shore," and Jon Cryer -- but we're not sure what teens see in him.

Drinkers Dig De Lima

There was an unexpectedly large gap between drinkers and nondrinkers. In fact, nondrinkers were split 50-50 on the vote, while 70% of drinkers preferred De Lima. But it's not like you need beer goggles to see her appeal. A lot of commenters who were going off of appearance seemed to vote for Anthony.

Liberals Like Casper

Now here's one we can't explain. There was actually a significant political difference on who had the better rebound. Conservatives preferred Anthony's date a little more than most, but liberals strongly preferred JLo's. However, the usual religious correlation did not apply: Atheists and agnostics still preferred Anthony's date.

Both Monogamy and serial monogamy are both obsolete. When people are not having kids, they tend to not want to be taken for granted any more. They want to be romanced and I would say few people know how to keep the flame alive.

I say take your girl to an adult toy shop and bring back the magic. Toss the TV and get a massage table. Downsize your expenses so you can spend more time together.

I went to a seminar by two ladies from the communal German community Tamera. These ladies claim young men do not know anything about love making, they use "instinct". Most woman are now not willing to settle for that. So these ladies volunteer as councilors in their community where polyamory is practiced. Its different from just sleeping around with anyone, promiscuity, because its all consensual between members of a small
    community.

I can't see that marriage ever works because too many people are jealous of others. I don't see how a marriage certificate is important because many believe it gives them some kind of power to control their mate. In some cases one spouse wants to completely change the other. Why would anyone want to control or change another person? This could not possibly be a good match. True lovers completely trust one another, are best
friends, work well together, and know how to have fun & variety in their sex life.

I think I'd be better off downtown, where I can walk most places, and otherwise stay holed up like a recluse in my own, away from the general malodorous populace.

Any woman can train a man in pleasure, if he's willing to learn. I don't need someone else to be the instructor, especially when I know what I like. The people for whom polyamory works, good for them. But, then there are those of us for whom it doesn't. No better, no worse, not "obsolete," just different.

I think it works best for divorce lawyers.
They are doing a bang up business dividing up the loot.

That's thanks to "No Fault" divorce laws. If something actually needed to be proven, then people might actually take marriage seriously, because they couldn't get out of it unless some sort of true wrongdoing or fault were proven, such as abuse, infidelity, insanity or the like.

It would put a fair number of divorce attorneys out of business, because there would probably be fewer divorces, as well as fewer marriages.

If people are really in love then go for it. Even in a polyamorus commune like tamera, if couples want to be monogamous, they can be.

But I council my kids to not get married until they are in their mid 20's. Get to know the world around you a bit more before committing.

PS This country is run by lawyers so divorce laws will not change any time soon.

In general, I agree with the idea of not getting married early.

Here I thought the country was run by business-owners. Hrm. So many masters. lol Eh, the general public doesn't want to do away with "No Fault" divorce... feminists would idiotically rally against it, suggesting that it was just another way to enforce feminine subjugation, or some crap like that.

It is those laws that totally screwed the potential to be secure in the job of housewife and mother. Some people want nothing more than to do that, and I say good for them, but it's a very risky venture, given the fact that a man can just go and pull everything up from under you and abandon you with no usable job skills to try to get employment with.

Hyperbole, at least until I catch her trying to actually get him into bed, then she'll either have to back off or I'll have to curb stomp her face since by that point she'd be too dumb to realize that "no" means "no."

Most of my processes that occur on a survival level are rather strong, I think it's a good thing that this includes the desire to protect myself from one of the greatest potential pains one can feel.

I totally agree with you. I often wonder what became of the fun & variety in everyone's sex life. If everyone spent more time trying to please & excite their lover there would be a lot less breakups and bitter feelings.
