It seems like only yesterday that Justin Bieber was a sweet 16-year-old kid from Canada living out his dream on the cover of J-14. Now he's being accused of battery after a photographer checked into the hospital claiming the pop star attacked him. However, there are no pictures of the incident and no evidence that the photographer was even injured, so some think it was just a set-up. We asked the public if it's believable.
Despite all the negative feelings toward JB, most people assume the story is bunk. The Top Opinion observed, "I have trouble believing that kid sent a grown man to the hospital. I wouldn't be surprised if that paparazzo was faking this whole thing." The lack of evidence doesn't help the photog's case, either. Even people who believe the story took Bieber's side. One person wrote, "If you take pictures of someone like that you deserve to get beat up. Let the kid off on the charges!"
Teens Think It's True
Let's be honest. There probably aren't a whole lot of Bieber fans over the age of 17. So, assuming the majority of Bieber fans are between 13-17, and taking into consideration that the 13-17 age range was most likely to believe Bieber attacked the photographer, it follows that Beliebers may be more likely to be believers. However, there was no gender difference, so that kind of throws off the conclusion.
Parents Smell a Set-Up
The age breakdown wasn't very consistent, which means demographics that are typically related to age -- namely relationship status, politics, and parenthood -- stand out more. In this case, parents were considerably more likely to call BS on the photographer's story. Maybe they know a good kid when they see one.
Athletes Aren't Sure
There was some variance in the weight type category, so we took a look to see if there was a pattern there. Turns out skinny voters and overweight voters were unconvinced, while athletes were more likely to believe it. In other words, people who are in good shape were more likely to believe Bieber would take on a paparazzo. That sounds like a vote of confidence in his favor.
