PUBLIC OPINION > Adam Lambert Should Replace Jennifer Lopez on 'American Idol'

SodaHead Celebs 2012/07/12 19:00:00
Rumors of J.Lo's departure from "American Idol" have been circulating for months. With her world tour, business ventures, and a couple of kids to look after, it didn't seem too far-fetched. Well, she finally admitted it might be time, which means Fox will be eager to fill her shoes. Reportedly at the top of their list is former "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert, but we wanted to know who the public would pick.

Adam Lambert

Sounds like Fox is doing right by the public in seeking out Lambert. After more than 6,000 votes, he took a healthy 9% lead. The 30-year-old singer has already won approval as a Freddie Mercury stand-in, which some might argue is a tougher role to fill than Jennifer Lopez on "Idol," so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise. He scored especially well with young voters.

Kelly Clarkson

Interestingly, the runner-up in this poll wasn't a runner-up on "Idol" -- she was a winner. Also 30 years old, Clarkson won the very first season of "American Idol" back in 2002, and effectively helped launch the series into the behemoth it is today. Many winners have faded from memory over the years, but Clarkson has stood the test of time, even a decade later.

Carrie Underwood

Once again, it appears the public wants "Idol" alumni to stick together. Third place went to Carrie Underwood, the only other "Idol" contestant on the list. Maybe they should abandon the celebrity judge angle all together and just throw former contestants up there. The popular ones, of course. Not necessarily the winners.

If you'd like to vote on this question, dig deeper into the demographics, or engage in existing discussion about the topic, visit our poll about J.Lo's replacement. We'd love to hear from you!

I really love Adam Lambert. He was a favorite from the Idol stage, and it would be nice to have an opinion from an artist who is doing well and relatively new to the business. On a side note, I do think American Idol has run its course, but if it is going on, I'd tune in again with Adam Lambert on the panel.

How come no one mentions Donny Osmond ? He is a great showman and would be a great addition to idol.

Yes, I think he would be great especially since he knows first hand on how things work, Kelly would be good also since she was the first winner of the show!

Adam isn't the answer to their problem. I would say Kelly Clarkson would be a lot better. I have lost my zest for the show as it is getting old & talent is not the best chosen.

Adam Lambert? No. Just no. Mariah Carey (as much as I despise the woman) would make a better choice. They were considering her a couple of years ago, and I think it'd be good for her now.

If they put Lambert in as judge you can kiss Idol goodbye. They need a judge with skins on the wall. He's done nothing.

If he wants to do it great. If he doesn't want to do it, I think he should pass.

If you want my personal opinion, I think they should just cancel the show because it's outlived it's purpose.

    Yes to Adam Lambert !
Since he has been a contestant on the show already, he can also understand the other contestants.Other than he is very very talented ( he can actually sing yanno ), sweet ,friendly, down-to-earth, smart and articulate ( I could go on forever ! lol ). The point is that he will make a very nice judge and a great guide too, cause he's that type of guy and he has great choice in music too so Idol might get some great contestants in the running too xD I don't watch Idol though, will do if he comes on ! That would be fun.

Honestly out of all those people I only like Adam and Perez. But I would most deffinatley choose Adam, for the simple fact Perez can be a bit TOO mean. Constructive criticsm is fine and all, but he could make somebody cry easily and I don't think it's okay to hurt someones feelings while meaning to. Adam has the perfect amount of constructive criticism. He may not have any experience in judging, but there's a first for everything. You have to start somewhere.

Shows what a loser career Lambert is having if he would be considered a judge. And what kind of judge would he be if he can't get his own career off and running? How stupid.

Ehhhh I think it would be a little weird. I mean, sure, he could give them some good advice because he was in their shoes once, but I don't know. I just feel like it would be strange to have an old contestant as a judge.

I could be all wrong but being an American Idol judge seems more like a job for someone with a career on the downside. I don't think that applies to any of them. However, Kelly has always been my favorite so, if I had to choose one of the three, l'll choose Kelly.

HAHAHA I can see Kanye West now... "Now (insert Idol contestant name) Imma let you finish..."

Taylor Swift would be good, but she's too positive. She would be just like Paula was when the show first started. Doesn't the judges' table need more variety?
