Please give me a few suggestions of disturbing books to read!

~Violate Harmon~ 2012/06/09 03:23:05
Please no The Road, The Girl Next Door, 120 Days Of Sodom, Haunted, Invisible Monsters, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Requim for a Dream, or any Steven King books. I'm either already about to read them, or heard of then a billion times. Please also suggest disturbing teen books. Thanks!

The movie "Red Dragon" doesn't do justice to Thomas Harris' book. There are long stretches of that book that are quite disturbing. When I started it, I stayed up most of the night so I could finish reading it. It's hard to put down.

"Girl Interrupted" can be disturbing if it relates. "Johnny Got His Gun" for the horror of surviving a war, and any of the Beauty series by Anne Rice (aka A. N. Roquelaure) but be warned, they are NOT about vampires.

I myself looooooved the Hannibal series by Thomas Harris (Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal, although as a warning, Hannibal is very very dull) They're more violent and creepy than disturbing in my opinion, but that's just me.
The Resort by Bentley Little was also a bit disturbing, or odd depending on how you look at it.
Oh, and Demon Seed by Dean Koonts is great too, I got a kick out of it :)

I've heard of Lolita, and it sounds so creepily good lol! I'll get it as soon as possible. And I'm also reading Lord Of The Flies next year in school so I'm so excited! I'll look up Ender's Game and Never Let Me Go, because I've never heard of them, but they sound good! Thanks so much!

These are all really good ... Lolita is a story about a sort of creepy old man, but the bad guy loses in the end ... it is BEAUTIFULLY written ... Nabokov is an amazing writer ... His book "Speak Memory" is REALLY good - it's autobiographical ... about his family escaping from Russia (and moving to France and then the USA) when the Communist Revolution is starting ... my sons read Ender's Game in high school - i think it was required reading during the summer before they started as freshman.
