PLAY: Julian Lennon & James Scott Cook, "Lucy" (single)

It's one of the most famous chapters of Beatles lore: A three-year-old Julian Lennon shows his daddy a drawing of his classmate, Lucy O'Donnell. Julian describes his preschool masterpiece as "Lucy in the sky with diamonds." The rest is rock history. The Beatles had a psychedelic hit, Julian got dumped by John, and Lucy died earlier this year from lupus. Julian Lennon's single — his first new music in more than ten years — brings the story full circle. He says that his recent writing and recording have helped him forgive his absentee dad while publicly pays his respects to his old childhood friend. And the single's damn good to boot. Proceeds benefit lupus research. A full album from Lennon arrives next year.

See Julian Lennon's video for "Lucy."

Three year olds do have classmates in preschool and do speak well enough to be understood especially by their parents. Regardless of that, it was a sweet song and lovely to see Julian and hear how much he sounds like his dad.

3 year olds don't have class mates unless your are talking about pre-pre-pre school.
And three year old boys don't speak that well yet. I don't buy it.
We can judge John for going on "holiday" in Spain with Brian Epstein instead of being there at his child's birth for example.
We are not talking about spiritual purity...he was a selfish confused jerk... and a musical genius.
As for Julian he's also got Hey Jude as part of his legacy.

My 3 year old goes to school twice a week, can write his own name, and has proper conversations.

I'm just saying that parents tend to squash time when recalling what and when and some times even which kid did something. And there's a big jump from his name to a friends name and the words in the sky with diamonds. Did you see the drawing they are claiming he made?

My two year old put together a 1000-piece puzzle, expert skill level, in eight and a half hours. Then we watched Jeopardy and he made me feel like a complete idiot. Kids these days, tell ya what, they're really something. You'd be surprised. He learned to drive a standard transmission the other day...took to it just as quickly as he mastered the piano. Man, what a cutie.

I remember... and all you kept saying is ....Who put the puzzle together?...who put the puzzle together?...koochie koochie koo...did you put the puzzle together? are you daddy's good little boy that puts puzzles together? did you just put your feet in your mouth? who can put their feet in their mouth? little cutie.

Julian you were great! I am a great fan of your dad and I believe that you have your own great niche. Keep it going, keep on writing and composing, put more orchestral tinge in the future. You've got it not from your father but from YOU. James Scott is also great in the music and video!!! There is something in you that is called a great HUMAN BEING first and an ARTIST too.

I thought the song was good but the production was a little effects-heavy on Julian's vocal. But all in all, a catchy tune with an interresting signifigance. We shouldn't judge John Lennon--remember, "why do you criticize your brother for having a speck in his eye when you have a plank in your own?"
