Well, if the US is the only country where American Football is played on a professional level, and with a professional league, then the champion of that league is the world champion, by default.

They are the world champions of the American NFL, I don't see any other countries fielding teams in the league. Morgan only believes in Nationalism if it is in his home country.

What other "World Class" teams would he like to have compete...there are none. More and more players from outside the country are playing, which is great. I would like to see soccer rules change, no faking, falling down, or crying so that some of America's better athletes would over take that sport.

There aren't any major football leagues that are outside the United States. The only exception is the CFL in Canada, but that applies different rules to the game. Maybe Piers Morgan would be correct if the rest of world embraced the sport like America and had football leagues of their own (setting aside the fact that both the Europeans and the South Americans use the term "football" to refer to what we call "soccer," and the Australians to their own unique sport). But that isn't the case, so Morgan should just shut-up. He won't get more viewers for his failing talk show this way.

Piers Morgan is an entertainer, that's how he makes his livelihood by being controversial. The more controversial the bigger the payday. So why is it so hard to understand that he makes controversial comments? After seeing the movie "The Blind Side" which was the story of how Michael Ohr was adopted by a family in Memphis, Tennessee, and given an education he would not otherwise have had, who coluld not be happy for Michael and his teammates on the Baltimore Ravens? Sandra Bullock has her Academy award for her performance in the movie. Now Michael has his Super Bowl Ring!

Let's see name one non-NFL team that could beat the Ravens or Niners? Or even any NFL team......or most major American NCAA college teams. NONE.

I do remember a few years back the NFL Europe. How good were they? .........Oh yea that was really nothing more than the NFL's minor league.

As for the term World Champion the winner of the Super Bowl deserves it more than any other sport. Baseball, yes maybe a National team (Japan, Korea, the Domician Republic) all can put out a good team. Team USA (basketball) did lose in the '04 Olympics. And there have be tons of great Europeon hockey teams. But then again these have all been National teams not teams from leagues where the stars are spread out thoughout the league.

Yes the term World Champion is deserved.

Pressed the wrong button, although I don't like him, he does make one point, American football is one of the only sports not in the Olympics, until it gets the pass to be in it. (It was used in the 1932 Olympics however). To be declared a true world champion, go in the olympics and surpass everyone in it, in every sport in it. Of course that's not possible.

The NFL did have an European league years ago, but it was long since defunct since 2007. The NFL-E and it had a fair quality teams, neither good enough though to be NFL good. Canada also has football as well with different rules, but still similar. Perhaps someone should start a Master Bowl once every two-four years, so that every football team in the world compete for and meet in one place. Then a world champion can be decided better.
