A) Whats a tanooki?
B) Does the game say its fur taken off a tanooki thats been killed?
C) How many other real life fur products give you the power to turn into stone or fly?
Peta finds miraculous new ways of being irrelvent. I'd love, just once, for them to prattle on on a stupid issue like this and see a dip in donations as the usual nutters that give them money finally get a clue.
PS - Don't forget that he also used a frog suit in Mario 3, as well as just the tail and ears of a racoon. Shouldn't that get some attention?
PPS - Wait a minute. We're talking about a game where the main character runs around jumping on turtles. But its the potential for fur that Peta cares about? Peta clearly doesn't like reptiles or amphibians.
PPPS - Oh and dinosaurs. Peta hates dinosaurs. How often in the game has it been useful to let Yoshi fall down a pit during a double jump for Marios benefit.
I'm protesting Peta for their hatred of reptiles and amphibians and dinosaurs. Who's with me!?!

While not everyone agrees with PETA's message, the organization is far more notorious for the way it gets its message across. Usually, they target celebrities and convince them to pose nude, but they've (luckily) left the clothes on their latest target. PETA is actually accusing Mario -- as in, the Italian plumber who can shoot fireballs out of his hand -- of abusing animals.
They developed a flash game called "Mario Kills Tanooki," satirizing the character's use of the Tanooki suit in "Mario 3D Land," which you might know as the raccoon suit from "Mario 3" on the NES. However, PETA's game is far crueler than the actual "Mario" games. The point seems to be awareness, rather than criticizing of "Mario."
Do you think PETA has a right to target "Mario Kills Tanooki"?

Thank you for saying it! :D
IT'S A GAME.
GET OVER IT.
PITA is doing their usual extreme action to encourage people to act the way they do.
Mario should sue them for copyright infringement to show that they cannot just seize other peoples property and use it for their propaganda.
Not to mention, Mario get his suit from a Magic leaf. Did that leaf skin a Tanooki? Did that leaf have a coupon attached for Mario to go to Costume Emporium and pickup a faux fur Tanooki costume? Did that leaf simply turn him into a human/animal hybrid? All reasonable connections before you accuse an innocent fictional character of killing animals.
Not to mention, that game is so difficult, its almost like PETA doesn't want the Tanooki to get its skin back.
My daughters love to play Mario and think that Tanooki Mario is super cute not because he is wearing a raccoon fur suit but because he is their favorite game character!
Besides who wants to wear raccoon, I mean that style went out with Davy Crockett.
Where were you when Mario was dressed in a frog suit?
Is frogs unimportant in your shock campaign?
