PETA Is Protesting the New Show 'Animal Practice': Whose Side Are You On?

There’s more trouble brewing for the new NBC series “Animal Practice.” First, they pre-empted The Who and Ray Davies at the closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics. Now, PETA is protesting the show. The animal rights group feels Crystal, the monkey star of the sitcom, is being exploited and have rallied the troops to let NBC know they are not pleased.

animal practice

They posted on their Facebook page this morning and asked their followers to join in protest today in Burbank at the NBC studios. They were also looking for volunteers to wear monkey masks, which they provided to willing participants on site. For anyone who couldn't make it in person, or who didn't see the post in time, it's not too late to support the cause. They can still join in the fun by wearing black in support of Crystal.

They pleaded with fans, “We would love to have you come out and hold a sign and help hand out leaflets!" PETA is bringing up an age-old question in the entertainment industry. Is it cruel towards animals to put them in front of the camera solely for our entertainment? Crystal, who has starred in both “Night at the Museum” and “The Hangover Part II,” has not commented on the alleged exploitation. So, whose side are you on: NBC’s or PETA’s?

Depends on situation. When the animal is as happy as this little one seems to be, leave it alone. But for dog fighting, bull fighting, circus animals being beaten and/or not properly fed & cared for, by all means, let PETA step in.

On the set of every movie and TV show there is an animal rights person from the humane society. If they see ANYTHING that looks like mistreating, they can shut down the whole production.

Just because there are people there to watch the animals doesn't mean uncontrollable circumstances won't happen. Living things die all the time. It isn't always someones fault.

So Sorry hit the wrong one....I Hate PETA,..the are a MONEY Making scam,..And Kill more animals than the Dog pound or animal control do Nation wide. the do not adopt out animals, the do not re home them,..the simply take them and Kill them and Pocket Donations.
One woman asked PETA to take her dog she could not care for due to health issues. She gave a Generous donation, under their assurance the would take excellent care of he beloved pet. and make sue it got the Forever home it deserved.
Right after they took the Dog out the door, to their van,...She had a Change of heart. an out to the van,..opened the door only to find the had already Euthanize her dog EVEN BEFORE LEAVING HER DIVE WAY.
She sued, but PETA won,..Stating that she had Signed over the dog. and the could do what ever the felt was best for the dog. that re-Homing the dog would have been Cruel and traumatic.

the ARE LIARS, Scamers and ANIMAL KILLERS, for Profit. Sa anthing to get donations,..that is all they are after,..MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

How could so many people side with PETA, honestly?!!

Ingrid Newkirk & her cronies are an evil bunch of hypocritical nutjobs who are very good at sucking in typically ignorant celebrities to advertise for them & suck in the younger generation, in particular...maybe Ms Newkirk & the current US President worked out their marketing strategies together?!!

So, should PETA start a campaign against all people who dress up their dogs? If the animal is not being abused, then I think it's okay. PETA, come on...aren't there bigger battles you should be fighting?

PETA is 'barking' up the wrong tree, this time. If anything, that little monkey is very doted on,and that's how it should be. Most TV and movie animals nowadays are treated like the stars and are very loved..PETA just wants to make some noise.

Are you serious? PETA has made several bomb threats to people. They have bombed animal testing labs. I can't remember the musician's name but my brother told me of one who killed a pesky rat and PETA tried to throw a bomb on stage. That's called domestic terrorism.

Why use a revolting, dirty monkey on this show at all? They should be in the wild where thy belong. It would be nice if with each episode, they could feature a real domestic animal that needs a home or help (just like "Without A Trace" used to do on a real missing person). Last week the animal "shelter" in Harlan, Kentucky had to put down 80 animals for lack of space and resources. How much more obscene can that get?

Animals are a very vital componant in the entertainment industry and their safety and
general welfare very seriously. Those very few who don't usually don't remain in business for very long. They ultimately answear for their transgressions in a court of law.

If using animals for entertainment is wrong, then why isn't PETA protesting YouTube for all the cat videos that people post? (or Reddit for all the cat pictures people post?)
