First of all, fie to you PETA for forcing me to take sides with Honey Boo Boo. Your treachery will never be forgotten this day.
Second, does PETA even take themselves seriously? No one else does.

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson has a new pet chicken, but PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) aren’t too happy with the name she has chosen for it: Nugget. According to E!, the organization has sent her a letter suggesting a different name "in order to honor her as your friend and protect other chickens just like her."

The letter, written by PETA rep Michelle Cho, says that “chickens are smart, interesting animals with personalities of their own," and suggests that Alana rename her chicken “Not a Nugget” so that people know that “they should be nice to chickens by not eating them."
Cho also says that Alana doesn’t have to stop eating chicken nuggets, because "there are yummy vegan-chicken nuggets in grocery stores today that taste just like meat.” Perhaps she hasn’t seen “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”? Do you think the letter is understandable or a total overreaction?

I don't necessarily demand we all become vegetarians. I'm an old farm girl and know perfectly well about where and how meat originates. I was raised, however, to respect deeply the fact that another being had to die so I could have sustenance, not to waste food in acknowledgement of that sacrifice and the efforts of the people who had to do all the dirty work, and most of all, while that animal was under my stewardship, to take the best care possible of it and to assure as best I could, that its death was swift and humane. Dr. Temple Grandin has done tremendous work on this and I wish the livestock industry would uniformly adopt her recommendations.
my favorite meats are moose, white tail deer, and buffalo
My parents have chickens and my 4yr old daughter wanted to watch my dad butcher it when it was killed by our dog. She loves animals and had raised them as chicks, but knew at the end of the day they are food, not friends!
