PETA Is Mad That Honey Boo Boo Named Her Chicken 'Nugget': Understandable or Overreaction?

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson has a new pet chicken, but PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) aren’t too happy with the name she has chosen for it: Nugget. According to E!, the organization has sent her a letter suggesting a different name "in order to honor her as your friend and protect other chickens just like her."

The letter, written by PETA rep Michelle Cho, says that “chickens are smart, interesting animals with personalities of their own," and suggests that Alana rename her chicken “Not a Nugget” so that people know that “they should be nice to chickens by not eating them."

Cho also says that Alana doesn’t have to stop eating chicken nuggets, because "there are yummy vegan-chicken nuggets in grocery stores today that taste just like meat.” Perhaps she hasn’t seen “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”? Do you think the letter is understandable or a total overreaction?

I think if they want to claim to fight for animal rights, then they should get off their self righteous asses and go out and so something to assist the groups that are actually trying to stop animal cruelty. I am following a group on FB that is constantly sending out petitions and videos to raise awareness and help abused animals. I am following PETA on Twitter and get absolutely nothing from them. I guess the only good PETA group is the one I'm part of:

PETA overreacts to everything (except their own hypocrisy when they kill more animals than they "save"). They rate right up there with the Westboro Baptist Church. Give her pet chicken to them and it will be dead and in the trash, wasted, before dark.

That's what I meant. I accidently left the last "a" off of her name. I've corrected my post.

My point is simple, please read Resp's comment and you'll see I was replying to him/her. And, just incase you don't read Resp's initial comment, he/she stated, "...only a mentally challenged woman would name her child "Honey Boo Boo". ..." It should be clear that I was telling him/her Honey Boo Boo's real name.

PETA are clearly overreacting but then so are many of the people who have commented. It never ceases to amaze me how worked up and abusive some people become on this site. I have also noticed a correlation between the high level of fury and abuse and the low quality of spelling and grammar. If people calmed down a little, their comments might be more coherent and comprehensible.

Peta has no authority. They can go screw themselves. Second, not tolerating others views of eating meat is INTOLERANT. Third I would reply with a letter to never contact me again or risk charges of harrassment. Fourth, rednecks cant do no fancy book learnins
