PETA Gives Miley Cyrus a Pig For Her Birthday: Would a Pig Make a Good Pet?

PETA is big on celebrity pets at the moment. First, they gave Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson advice about her pet chicken, “Nugget” -- and now they’ve (sort of) given Miley Cyrus a special birthday present: a pig.

Outspoken animal lover Miley turned 20 on Friday, Nov. 23, and PETA sponsored a pig named Nora in her honor. According to E!, PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said ““PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals.”

Miley has clearly impressed the controversial animal rights organization, as Reiman added “From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place.” Do you think that a pig would make a good pet?

Seriously cute pet ,she is so lucky . Hell she probably lives in a mansion so I do not see it being held captive as some are saying and maybe she can get it a little mate you know a piggy friend . Wow she looks so grown up now with her new hairstyle .

And no I do not think she can eat it when she gets bored of it , that's like me sending my fur balls down to the Chinese takeaway .

Screw PETA...but pigs do make good pets, from what I've seen and heard. They're intelligent creatures and at least as hygienic as any other domesticated animal provided the owner takes care of it. I don't know if I could handle any but a micro-pig, but it's not unreasonable to have a pet pig. Plus, if they're stupid, you can make them into bacon. What's not to love?

For people who actually know how to take care of one...just because you tell people to help animals doesn't mean you should have them.

Pigs make terrific pets. In fact A lady near my hometown about 4 years ago had a large pet pig that lived in the house [ the pig was kept very clean, etc ] and one day someone tried to break in and the pig chased the guy away, all the way down the street. The pig was fine and the guy was picked up.
Have you seen the tea cup pigs? They don't get big at all and are so very cute.

I too love pigs big and small and micro especially .
When I was younger used to stay at a farm in Cornwall , the girl on the farm Sammy owned a giant pig and we used to ride it around the field . (We were only small before anyone starts ) anyway one morning he tipped our caravan up trying to get to the dinner scraps . It was so funny I actually got tipped out of bed ,we did not go right over thankfully
    He looked like this
    fat red pigs

Thank you...sooo cute. I love them. Maybe one day I'll be able to get a tiny little pig for a pet. They are adorable and I know you can train them like a little doggie. So sweet.

Pigs are cute and smart, very much like a dog, they like being around humans when raised from piglet times around people. However, Pig poop stinks, and pigs grow fast, reaching over 100 lbs. by a year old. Pigs need an outdoor space all their own, and not just a narrow strip of lawn--a real barnyard with other pigs, or farm animals. Suspect Miley will place this pig on her Dads farm, and visit it often.

Not for me but I have heard they make a great pet. But an animal should not be given as a gift because the person giving it doesn't know if that pet "pig" was something that person really wanted, a pet is like a family member not something to be thrown away when the shine has worn off.

Pet pigs are OK but gift pets are not OK. There is no way to know if an animal will be wanted unless you want it yourself.

i'm realistic i know they grow up. i plan to get a micro mini tea cup pig and they're just as cute as adults. i don't find pigs ugly at all no matter what type. it also doesn't take away from the fact that they're smart and affectionate. that's just my opinion...i love fuzzy little pigs adult tea cup pig adult micro mini pig

A pig can make a good pet and can also help her find truffles in the ground, he he he.
Seriously, PETA giving a pig - Why am I not surprised?
These people feed on controversy, and making the news is a task for them....
