And you thought the Men In Black team waited a long time betweetn sequels, putting a full 10 years between MIB2 and last weekend’s 3D installment. Now comes word that Pauley Shore’s 18-year-old “comedy” In the Army Now could get a sequel, with original co-star Andy Dick along for the ride.

Take this bit of WTF news with a bucket of salt, because the idea was
born out of a conversation between Shore and Dick. If that isn’t enough
to make you skeptical, they came up with the idea on something called
FilmOn.TV, where Dick hosts a talk show from a studio in Beverly Hills.
Surrounded by bikini-clad ladies and interviewing Shore, Dick started
talking about the good old days and they decided to do an In the Army Now sequel.

"I've always said we should do In The Army Again," said Dick. "We should rescue Katey Parry[sic] from a USO show gone bad or something."

"We just need a script and someone to back the project and I'm in," Shore added.

"I'll back it if both of you star in it," tossed in FilmOn.TV CEO Alki David.

And movie magic was made. Again, we can not emphasize enough that this
was announced on the fly between two old friends who haven’t been major
movie stars in decades, but a press statement declaring this to be fact
says a treatment is in place and a script will be hashed out shortly.

Why not? Hollywood has had crazier ideas. If Shore and Dick are smart
(and you don’t stay in show business as long as they have by being true
idiots) they’ll cook up some meta concept that explains why their
characters are still soldiers in our Armed Forces, and we’ll be off to
the races. The original Army came our in 1994. It was directed by
Daniel Petrie Jr., at a time when Shore was a box office draw. Now get
me Lori Petty on the line, because if these two are reuniting for an Army sequel, they damn well better make room for Tank Girl.
