No, this isn't a joke. As many of us already know, Pamela Anderson is anything but virginal. But that doesn't mean she can't play one on TV. And the former "Baywatch" babe isn't just playing any virgin: she's currently cast as the Virgin Mary in an upcoming Christmas special.
Sure, the TV special is more a comedy than anything else. But we think it's still a little strange. The former Playboy playmate will portray the Virgin Mary in "A Russell Peters Christmas Special," which will air on CTV -- a Canadian TV channel -- and The Comedy Network.
The Canadian show will feature a mix of stand-up comedy, sketches, animation and some musical performances. In addition to Pamela Anderson and Canadian comic Russel Peters, the special will also include guests like musician Michael Buble, actor Ted Lange and Saturday Night Live alum Jon Lovitz. Russell Peters will host the one-hour special on Dec 1.
Whether it's meant to be a funny joke or not, do you think Pamela Anderson being cast as the Virgin Mary is pretty awesome or downright offensive?

And, just because I find it offensive to parody the birth of Christ doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. I wish it wouldn't be, but more than that, I wish people would stop sanctioning and banning those who make stupid or offensive remarks. Or simply, have different opinions. In the case of offhand remarks, after the obligatory apology, life does not go on as before, for those who have offended those of certain "special" groups or people. I find THAT offensive.
In the broader case of a parody of something another person holds dear - we ALL have a right to do that - or NONE OF US DO. As much as I dislike the thought of someone with the image of Pamela Anderson playing the Virgin Mary - I'm glad she has that right.
I Think Its Cool.
Its Not As If They're Going to Cast for all vrigins to audition for the part or anything.
What's wrong...how is that offensive.
Ah people...always finding a way to amuse me.
