OWS: Does NBA Players Association Represent the 99%?

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) represents the professional basketball players in the NBA. This labor union encouraged its players to not agree to the multi-billions in salaries offered by the NBA league. The league continues to offer more money and consolation to the players so they can begin the 2011 season.

If the players continue to refuse to play their favorite game for millions of dollars it will hurt the 99% of the people who make less money supporting the arena, parking lots, concessions, bus shuttles, etc... The players and their labor union represent the rich elite and should show some compassion to the 99% of us who make less money.

The Los Angeles Lakers pays its players over $91 million per year. Other players/individual salaries include $25,244,000 for Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers), $22,152,000 for Rashad Lewis (Washington Wizards), $21,300,000 for Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs). None of these mentioned won last year's NBA Championship.

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) should protest the NBPA and players by Occupy Madison Square Gardens to show solidarity with the working people!

OWS can take this opportunity to show it really represents the people and not the Marxist contingent of the Democratic Party.

Not only are they the 1%, so are the actors, and rappers. They force cities to spend money they don't have to build them expensive performance palaces.

Stick to Occupy Wall Street and leave NBA labor negotiations to those who play the game and pay those who play the game.

Yes, the OWS has misdirected its anger. They should complain about the politicians who sleep with Wall Street. We expect integrity from our politicians.

should have come up with clear goals from the beginning. I'd wager if you asked 100 people at one of these occupy protests why they were there, you'd get 100 different answers. But now it's to big and I don't think there is any way they could unite under one common goal or set of goals.

Great question, dude! People currently making up OWS should think for themselves, and not allow themselves to become puppets of unions, Acorn, or any other George Soros organization.
If they wish to support NBPA cry-babies, that's their perogative.

This reminds me of the 60's. It seems to me this is a Oxymoron; They say they're working to change America, but all I see is everyone laying around and getting stoned. If that's work, then I've been going at this all wrong for a long time.

Until the people get smart and stop buying tix, and paying for cable to watch the games, they will continue to make vast sums. I limit most of my own sports watching to the NFL, which I've enjoyed since I was a kid, watching the Bears at Wrigley Field.
I watch a baseball game on TV once in a great while, and go to a game about once a year. I just can't listen on the radio to all the arguments over whether Joe Schmo 2nd baseman is "underpaid" at $4 million a year, or whatever.
Football signing bonuses in the multi-millions irk the hell out of me too, but I still watch games every weekend, and allow myself that indulgence between September and January.

I know. It is all so much socialization... people are pushed into it through peer pressure from when they are just in diapers... can't be a man if you don't------ can't be part of this family if you don't------ you can't be cool at school if you don't-----

In our area it is hunting.... just stupid... a guy we know died drunk on his four wheeler this last weekend... hunting... left a family of 4 little kids... He didn't really want to go, says his wife, but he felt he had to in order to feel okay with his buddies..

Guess that hunting dude should have stayed home in his man-cave and watched the games on TV. Those poor kids, and wife. :(

Yeah.. the guy he went with didn't fair much better. When their four wheeler flipped he broke his back... both would have been better off staying home and watching the games...
