I once watched an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy where they said "Eric Clapton got this nickname from his ability to change a string while on stage". Someone responded with "Who is God" Love that.
Technically, Vai is the best on the list. But he has no fell like SRV or Clapton. Knopler would have been on my top in these style of players. RR is my favorite over all
Tough call as they are all unique and greats! At a certain point you have to go with the one that just tickles your fancy a bit more as they tickle the frets. Foe me that's Jimi!
So true! He was not bad and certainly had his very own style. The great part is he was the one to invite greats like Clapton to collaborate!
In an interview one time. Clapton says when he 1st sat in and saw the openness of creativity they were having and it being enhanced by George Martin making it happen. It for him was a revelation of the highest order!
I know that these other guys are technically more proficient players, and I'm a huge fan of them all- but something about the way BB plays gives me goosebumps...
When you look at his body of work over a given period of time, one that was sadly cut too short, Hendrix set the bar IMO. I sometimes wonder if he were still alive, what he might have explored musically. Love watching the Woodstock footage of him.
