Bye-bye Oprah.
As far as her admitting her mistakes, good for her! Transparency works, but few of us have the courage to embrace it. Oprah should look to the early days of the big 3 networks. There were mistakes and disasters every day; pioneers understand that perfection isn't the goal; survival, progress, and hope for a better tomorrow are much better pursuits.
She is a billionaire. Why does she need to take other people's money for charity? When she has more then enough of her own. The schools in Afica are wonderful, yes but after all these years and all that money she's made she didn't make much of a difference or an impact on the world other then drawing in hundreds of thousands of viewers to her show each day. And Africa? Incase you didn't notice there's so many people who need help right here in North America also and she's made so much money off of them, why not give back here first? This is only my two cents for what it's worth, we are all entitled to have our own opinion and this is just mine.
And where d...
And where do you get off saying that the work in Africa has not made much of a difference? You obviously are not well read. She has given thousands, not hundreds, of young women a chance to make a major difference in a country that denogrates women and allows millions of people to die because of ignorance about disease and cleanliness. These young women will pay it forward as they become better educated and they will go on to help their fellow countrymen become more civilized. Perhaps you would prefer to allow other human beings, many helpless children, to continue to die??? It's not a case of "well I didn't cause that", it's a case of humanity for others. Do you close your eyes to issues that cause our children to die here in America. I seriously doubt that but if you are any kind of reasonable human being, you would support and allow any person that is trying to make this planet a better place.
As far as the needs in North American, Oprah has donated millions, this MILLIONS to many organizations here in America. Again, you must not be very well read or you would understand. I hope your motive is not racist. There are millions of dollars spent in the country every day helping people, some of it is from the taxes you pay, in the form of grants, but throwing more and more money at every single possible program will never stop the needs of our American brothers and sisters. She is under no obligation to solve the ills of the U.S. but she shore makes a noticable dent in helping.
Your comments, even though they are your two cents, need some serious thought.
