While controversy swirls over the notion that their sophomore album might be a little too sexy, Britain’s biggest boy band has made a big announcement: They’re taking their star power to a theater near you -- and in 3D, no less.

The British boy band is not the first act to make the move, both Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, have released similar projects. But when the latest lads from across the pond premiere larger than life and popping off the screen on August 30, 2013, it’s likely to happen in the midst of the latest wave of boy band mania.
The concept isn’t new. Back in the ‘60s, the Monkees took TV, getting girls all riled up by offering a type for every taste. Mike was the smart one, Mickey the jokester, Peter the lovable fool and Davy the teen idol. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, groups like New Kids on the Block and 'NSYNC were making girls swoon with their harmonies and hip- shaking. But in recent years, solo artists such as Justin Bieber have been the ones topping the charts and building obsessive Twitter followings.
With the invasion of One Direction, the boy band might be making a mark on pop culture once again. While 1D might be the most sought-after group of the moment, The Wanted is hot on their heels and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they made a film soon, too. What do you think? Is this the beginning of another intense boy band wave?
I cant stand them they are so annoying
It is starting a boy band wave in north america but in Asia there are a lot of boy bands( k-pop)
The only DIFFERENCE, is that these bands ^^ had actual talent. They played their own instruments, wrote their own songs, etc. That's why they are considered legends!
One Direction will go out in a few years. Just like "Boys II Men" and "All 4 One" did. I highly doubt that people will be calling One Direction "legends" 50 years from now.
Out of all the good bands the UK has, why are 1D so famous?!
