From Olympic glory to ... getting arrested? Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder Shaun White apologized Tuesday after his arrest for public intoxication and vandalism.

shaun white

"I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests," he says in a statement posted on his Facebook page. "I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior."

White, 26, was arrested early Sunday morning in Nashville, where he was attending a wedding, according to People. Police say White, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated, pulled a hotel fire alarm, causing evacuations, then attempted to flee the scene, and wound up hitting his head as officers chased him. Do you forgive White for his "unwise choices"?

first of all, I would not consider him a hero. But that being said... Of course forgive him. He got drunk and made a few mistakes. No big deal.

I didn't recognize him without his hair loose. He was never a hero in the first place.

If he encourages a few of Americas fat kids to get off their fat butts and take up an athletically demanding sport like snowboarding, then yeah, I'd say he might just be something of a hero. Our country is screwed if we ever have to bring back the draft. Half of the kids growing up right now would be 4F based on their obesity alone.

Sure, he was something of a role model, but I think the term "hero" is being usedtl too loosely these days.

He wasn't a hero to begin with. Quit calling these athletes heroes... they play games, they don't save lives.

Im tired of these so called celebrities who have it all acting like psychos, then apologizing...only to do it again. With that title comes responsibility, and like it,or not they become heroes to children. Its disapointing for them, but best to learn early on that people are people, and no one deserves to be idolized. Maybe the 'celebreties' are full of themselves, and need to be the center of attention constantly. Grow up,already.

I'm tired of average people making high-and-mighty comments for things they have probably done themselves. We're all human and flawed and we all have something to hide.

How is going down a hill on snow being a hero in the first place? Maybe it's me but I don't consider it a case of rescue or even great talent. Please... You haven't had a night of drinking and cavorting before? Why do we judge ppl so quickly. Leave him alone

Maybe he'll encourage a few more kids to put the XBOX down and go outside. They may become physically fit young adults and actually go one to take on jobs where they can be real heroes. A lot of these XBOX kids are going to need heroes to save them from their heart attacks that they'll have by age 25.

I kind of see what you mean but video games can't be blamed for everything. The world is a darker place... sometimes the games takes them away. I feel sorrow for the young generation. It does keep the mind sharp and builds hand eye coordination... it has for me. I've worked in factories where in conversation with the janitors and material handlers I found out they had university degrees, a lot of it has to do with luck too.

Other celebs have done far worse. Personally, I just don't understand why so many of them feel compelled to destroy their hotel accommodations. That to me is just plain stupidity.

He made a mistake. I'm sure it isn't going to make people stop looking up to him. His mistake wasn't large and he was probably only a hero in the eyes of people who really care about snowboarding.

If some Kid is a hero for being a champion snowboarder in the first place lol, then getting drunk and rowdy and stupid does not seem so huge.
He really only hurt himself, it was not drunk driving or violence on anyone.

he was never a hero to start with, i'm not saying that he's a bad athlete but athletes in general aren't heroic , they just play sports that it. The real heroes are the men and women working 9-5 trying to raise a kid properly, or the soldiers risking their lives on some stupid conflict.
